From the moment we first heard his name, we were told how great Bryce Harper would be.

After an absurdly busy trade deadline that saw David Price head to Canada and Johnny Cueto land with the reigning American League champs, the playoff picture is looking a whole lot different than it did just a couple of weeks ago.

The way that all 30 clubs will be approaching the upcoming offseason is also looking a whole lot different now that all those moves have been made. From swinging trades to signing free agents, each team will have its own set of goals that it's hoping to accomplish when the winter rolls around.

For a guy who's never tested free agency, David Price has worn a lot of uniforms.

First, of course, the ace left-hander donned the laundry of the Tampa Bay Rays, the club that grabbed him with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2007 draft.

Then, for parts of two seasons, Price played for the Detroit Tigers after Tampa Bay shipped him out at the 2014 trade deadline.

Buckle your seat belts, baseball fans, because the National League wild-card race is about to get, well, wild.

Atlanta Braves outfielder Eury Perez did everything right. He tracked the ball, chased it down, dove and pointed his glove skyward to show the umpire.

Hold on, he missed a step—actually catching the ball.

Dave Dombrowski and I were not always on the best of terms.

Early on in his time with the Detroit Tigers, one of his close aides basically stopped talking to me, telling me, "I don't think you've been fair to Dave." Later, another aide told me that Dombrowski had made it a fireable offense to be found talking to me.

As time went on, I think Dombrowski gained a little more respect for my work. I know I gained more respect for his.

The hottest free agent in baseball right now is not a guy who throws in the mid-90s or hits towering home runs. Rather, it's a guy who specializes in building winners.

His name is Dave Dombrowski, and he needs a job.
