The 2015 Major League Baseball season is halfway home. It just put its third month in the books, as well as its 13th week.

And as with all the other ones, this week gave us plenty to talk about.

The time has come for us to do our usual thing and dive into the biggest storylines of the week. There are 10 that we need to get to, and they range from a bright young star making his long-awaited return to some nasty pitching to a nasty power dispute in Southern California.

Nothing ruins a big hit like a full-fledged bird attack.

In this case, outfielder Kevin Kiermaier didn’t quite get attacked by a rogue pigeon at the Tampa Bay Rays-New York Yankees game Friday night, but he did get scared.

And, like the grown man he is, Kiermaier dropped to the ground. At least he had a big RBI moments earlier in the top of the 12th.

The Toronto Blue Jays have the best offense in MLB by almost any measure, yet they're stuck in fourth place in the American League East. It doesn't take a brilliant baseball mind to deduce the problem is pitching, or a lack thereof.

Detroit Tigers superstar first baseman Miguel Cabrera suffered a calf injury Friday and was placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday.

Beltran placed on 15-Day DL

The Yankees announced Friday that Beltran will be placed on the 15-day DL with a strained left oblique. 

The New York Mets' charter plane was forced to make an unscheduled landing on Thursday en route to Los Angeles for a series with the Dodgers, beginning on Friday. 

According to ESPN New York's Adam Rubin, the flight landed in Detroit when a member of the media traveling on the plane had a "health issue."

Most teams are right around the 81-game mark, making this the halfway point of the 2015 MLB season.
