Here’s a look at the unheralded players who played well yesterday.
Tommy Hunter, Texas Rangers
Hunter has been untouchable at home (5-0, 2.25 ERA). This time he took his show on the road holding Boston to two runs on five hits in 6 2/3 innings to improve to 6-0 with a 2.39 ERA.
Jair Jurrjens, Atlanta Braves (pictured)
Jurrjens gave up one run on five hits in 6 2/3 innings to improve to 2-3 with a 4.75 ERA. He’s 2-0 with a 2.55 ERA since coming off the DL.
Dave Bush, Milwaukee Brewers
Bush took the loss despite giving up two runs in six innings with five Ks. He’s 4-7 with a 4.07 ERA.
R.A. Dickey, New York Mets
Dickey threw a gem, but Tim Lincecum was just better. Dickey gave up one run on five hits in seven innings. He fell to 6-3 with a 2.63 ERA. He’s 0-2 in his last three outings despite giving up one or fewer runs in two of those starts.
Joel Pineiro, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim
Pineiro gave up three runs on six hits in seven innings to improve to 10-6 with a 3.95 ERA. He’s 7-0 in his last eight starts with a 2.51 ERA.
