Here’s a look at some unheralded players who played well yesterday.
David Eckstein, San Diego Padres
Eckstein went 1-for-5 with a run and three RBI. He’s hitting .274 but isn’t much of a fantasy factor.
Chris Young, Arizona Diamondbacks (pictured)
Young continued his impressive 2010 campaign by going 2-for-4 with a HR (five) and five RBI. He’s hitting .298 with 21 RBI.
Dexter Fowler, Colorado Rockies
Fowler went 3-for-6 with two runs, a HR, and a SB to raise his average to .253.
Nate Schierholtz, San Francisco Giants
Nate went 5-for-5 with three runs and an RBI. He’s hitting .378.
Brandon Inge, Detroit Tigers
Inge went 2-for-5 with two runs, a HR, and three RBI. He’s hitting .265 with 14 RBI.
Nick Swisher, New York Yankees
Swisher went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI to improve his average to .284.
Mike Leake, Cincinnati Reds
Leake, who I picked as a streaming option for yesterday, went seven innings, allowing one run on five hits with five Ks, to beat the Astros. He improved to 2-0 with a 3.25 ERA.
Jaime Garcia, St. Louis Cardinals
Garcia threw seven scoreless innings, allowing four hits with five Ks to improve to 2-1 with a 1.04 ERA.

Clay Hensley, Florida Marlins: 2 IP, 0 Runs, 6 Ks (14 Ks, 9.2 IP)
Esmerling Vasquez, ARI: 2.2 IP, 0 Runs, 4 Ks (9 Ks, 6.2 IP)
Chad Gaudin, Oakland A’s: 1 IP, 0 Runs, 2 Ks (13 Ks, 9 IP)
Daniel Bard, Boston Red Sox: 1 IP, 0 Runs, 3 Ks (17 Ks, 13.2 IP)
J.J. Putz, Chicago White Sox: 1 IP, 0 Runs, 2 Ks (12 Ks, 7.2 IP)
Trouble Watch
The Milwaukee-Pittsburgh game saw both embattled closers blow saves. Octavio Dotel blew his second by giving up a run on two hits and two walks. His ERA sits at a whopping 10.61 Things weren’t better for Trevor Hoffman, who blew his fourth save. He gave up a HR in one inning of work. His ERA sits at 13.00.
