Just because you’ve slipped behind in the Stolen Base category doesn’t mean you can’t catch up. Here are some reasonably available stolen base options.
Orlando Hudson, San Diego Padres
Hudson has six stolen bases in the past 15 days, though he’s only hitting .196 over that span with four runs and two RBI. On the year he’s hitting .230 with eight runs, four RBI and eight SBs. O-Dog’s career high of 10 stolen bases should be surpassed soon, but the hitting will have to come around to make him a worthy addition. Orlando is owned in 12 percent of Yahoo! and 17.1 percent of ESPN leagues.
Will Venable, San Diego Padres
Venable is hitting .205 over the past 15 days with five stolen bases, four runs and four RBI. On the year he’s hitting .172 with seven runs, five RBI and six SBs. Unlike O-Dog, Venable is more likely to be a stolen base threat all year. However, his average isn’t likely to come around much. Will is owned in five percent of Yahoo! and 1.2 percent of ESPN leagues.
Coco Crisp, Oakland A’s
Crisp has four stolen bases in the past 15 days. He’s hitting .291 with 11 runs, a home run and seven RBI over that stretch. On the year he’s hitting .281 with 16 runs, a homer, eight RBI and eight SBs. He is more productive than the Padres duo, but you always have to worry about injuries with Coco. He’s a sure thing when he’s healthy though. Coco is owned in 43 percent of Yahoo and 67.5 percent of ESPN leagues.
Chris Getz, Kansas City Royals
Getz has three stolen bases in the past 15 days. He’s hitting .174 with seven runs and three RBI over that stretch. On the year he’s hitting .240 with five SBs, 12 runs and seven RBI. Chris is owned in about two percent of fantasy leagues.
Carlos Gomez, Milwaukee Brewers
Gomez is hitting .269 with three stolen bases, eight runs, a home run and seven RBI in the past 15 days. On the year he’s hitting .247 with 14 runs, two HRs, eight RBI and six SBs. When Nyjer Morgan eventually returns he’ll lose some ABs, but Gomez’s legs and glove should continue to make him a stolen base option. Carlos is owned in five percent of Yahoo! and 12.3 percent of ESPN leagues.
Alcides Escobar, Kansas City Royals
Escobar has three SBs in the past 15 days while hitting .234 with nine runs and three RBI. On the year he’s hitting .218 with five SBs, 12 runs and seven RBI. Alcides is owned in 18 percent of Yahoo! and 55.2 percent of ESPN leagues.
Cameron Maybin, San Diego Padres
Maybin has three stolen bases in the past 15 days. Like the other two Padres on the list, he’s struggling at the plate, hitting .231 with seven runs, a home run and an RBI. On the year he’s hitting .247 with six SBs, 11 runs, three HRs and five RBI. Cameron is owned in 20 percent of Yahoo! and 29.9 percent of ESPN leagues.
Corey Patterson, Toronto Blue Jays
Patterson is hitting .222 on the year with three stolen bases, three runs, two homers and nine RBI. Rajai Davis will return soon, killing any fantasy value for Corey. He is owned in about one percent of fantasy leagues.
Cliff Pennington, Oakland A’s
Pennington is hitting .275 with three SBs, four runs, a homer and five RBI in the past 15 days. On the year he’s hitting .234 with four SBs, five runs, a HR and six RBI. Cliff had 29 SBs last year and is owned in less than five percent of fantasy leagues.
