With the trade deadline a little over a month away, teams are now deciding if they need to make any moves in order to make a run in the playoffs. Some teams may also be trying to make room on their rosters in order to make moves towards the future. Either way, you need to know if your fantasy players will be on the move in the near future.
Players that may be traded before the trade deadline:

Jake Peavy (SP, SD)-CHC, PHI
Many teams have shown interest in the Padres ace, but plans took an awful turn for the Padres last week. Peavy was placed on the disabled list, which will put most trade talks to sleep for the rest of the 2009 season.
If he makes it back before the trade deadline, you may see a team like the Phillies make a serious run at Peavy.
Matt Holliday(OF, OAK)-STL, LAA
Like Mark Teixeira last season, Matt Holliday was considered a rent-a-player for the Athletics this season. If the Athletics end up in a possible playoff spot around the trade deadline, I expect them to hold on to Holliday with the thought they may get to the World Series.
Holliday’s stock did go down a bit this season, so if the Athletics are willing to take a cut on their end of a trade, he will most likely be moved to improve the future of the organization.
Erik Bedard (SP, SEA)-PHI, MIL
After missing much of the 2008 season, Bedard has returned to his 2007 form. The teams interested in Bedard are the Phillies and the Brewers. The Brewers are looking to ship J.J. Hardy as the headliner in a package to the Mariners for the all-star lefty.
Brad Penny (SP, BOS)-ATL, NYM, MIL
With too many starting pitchers to fill five spots, the Red Sox may be willing to trade this former all-star. The Braves, Mets and Brewers would be great fits, especially since he pitched great in the National League. This move also depends on if the Red Sox demote Daisuke Matsuzaka to the bullpen in the return of John Smoltz.
The Brewers may try to trade Hardy straight up for Penny, since they are still having trouble filling the void Jed Lowrie left after being placed on the disabled list. <!-- my page break -->
Mark DeRosa(3B, CLE)-STL, NYM
Mark DeRosa was supposed to be the missing piece in the Indians' infield. After a horrible start to the season, the Indians are now putting a trade sign on this great utility player. The two teams who have put serious thought into DeRosa are the Cardinals and the Mets.
The Mets are considering DeRosa with the thought of putting him at first base, since they don’t know if they will get Delgado back this season. If he gets traded to the Cardinals, he will most likely stay at third base to give them some senior leadership at the hot corner.
Ian Snell (SP, PIT)-COL, TEX
Even though Snell has only one win this season, teams are still inquiring for the possibility for a trade. Over his young career, Snell has shown spots of greatness. This is what teams are looking for in Snell.
A change of scenery may be good to resurrect his career. The Rangers have a great pitching coach who may be able to help him find his once-dominate pitching style.
Nick Johnson(1B, WAS)-NYM
Johnson is much needed in the Mets' lineup. He would be a quick fill to the vacancy at first base that was left by Delgado a month ago. Johnson is known for being on the disabled list, which may be causing a delay in the trade to the Mets.
Johnson will never put up the power numbers that Delgado did, but does play a gold glove-caliber first base.
Jack Wilson(SS, PIT)-BOS
Wilson has always been known for his glove at the shortstop position. He is now in high demand by the Red Sox to fill the void left by Jed Lowrie. Julio Lugo and Nick Green just aren’t getting the job done this season for the Red Sox.
If he does end up playing in Boston, expect to see his fantasy value skyrocket in that high-powered offense.<!-- my page break -->
LaTroy Hawkins(RP, HOU)-MIN
Hawkins, over time, has made himself an elite relief pitcher. After Jose Valverde landed on the disabled list, the Astros called on Hawkins to close out their games. With much success, Hawkins is now a target from teams that may be in contention for a playoff spot.
The Twins have shown interest in Hawkins, to use him as a bridge to their closer, Joe Nathan. This trade will depend Valverde's health, as the Astros are trying to see if he can close out the rest of the season.
Huston Street(RP, COL)-LAA
After landing in Colorado in the Matt Holliday trade, Street once again has found himself on the trading block. Street has won and lost the closer role for the Rockies this season, but has been lights out as of late.
The Angels have recently shown concern in their bullpen, after the loss of Scott Shields for the rest of the season. Street would be a great option for the Angels in the eighth inning before getting to Brian Fuentes.
