Here’s a look at the unheralded players who played well yesterday.



Chicago White Sox at Cleveland Indians
Gordon Beckham went 2-for-4 with a run and 2 RBI. Brent Morel went 1-for-4 with two runs and a stolen base. Edwin Jackson picked up the win while allowing two earned runs in six innings. He struck out seven. Chris Sale struck out a pair in 1.1 innings of scoreless relief. Rafael Perez struck out a pair in a scoreless inning of relief for the Tribe.



Pittsburgh Pirates at Chicago Cubs
Paul Maholm gave up five hits in 6.2 scoreless innings. Unfortunately Evan Meek (five runs, .2 inning) blew his lead. Kerry Wood struck out a pair in a scoreless inning of relief.

 

Atlanta Braves at Washington Nationals
Rick Ankiel went 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBI. Wilson Ramos went 3-for-4. John Lannan gave up one run in five innings to pick up the win. Alex Gonzalez went 3-for-3 with a home run for the Braves.

 

Minnesota Twins at Toronto Blue Jays
Yunel Escobar went 2-for-5 for the Jays. Travis Snider went 1-for-2 with two RBI. Jose Molina went 2-for-3 with two runs and a home run. Kyle Drabek gave up one run on one hit in seven innings for the win. He struck out seven.

 

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim at Kansas City Royals
Alcides Esobar went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a stolen base. Jeff Francoeur went 2-for-4 with a run. Chris Getz went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Aaron Crow struck out two in 1.2 scoreless innings to earn the win. Howie Kendrick went 2-for-5. Alberto Callaspo went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Erick Aybar went 2-for-4.

 

San Diego Padres at St. Louis Cardinals
Ryan Ludwick went 2-for-3 with four runs and an RBI. Chase Headley went 2-for-5 with two runs and four RBI. Nick Hundley went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Cory Luebke struck out two in a scoreless inning of relief. Allen Craig went 1-for-4 for the Cardinals with two RBI.

 

San Francisco Giants at Los Angeles Dodgers
Miguel Tejada, batting leadoff, went 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. Freddy Sanchez went 3-for-4 with two runs, a home run, and three RBI. Mark DeRosa went 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. Aaron Rowand went 2-for-5 with a run. Jeremy Carroll went 2-for-4 for the Dodgers.

 

Detroit Tigers at New York Yankees
Russell Martin went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run.



Houston Astros at Philadelphia Philllies
Placido Polanco went 3-for-5 with two runs. Ben Francisco went 2-for-5 with a run and two RBI. Raul Ibanez 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. Angel Sanchez went 2-for-4 with three runs for the Astros. Mark Melancon struck out two in a scoreless inning of relief.

 

New York Mets at Florida Marlins
Josh Thole went 3-for-4 for the Mets. Logan Morrison went 1-for-5 with two RBI for the Marlins. Emilio Bonifacio went 2-for-3.

 

Baltimore Orioles at Tampa Bay Rays
Derrek Lee went 2-for-4. Chris Tillman got a no-decision despite throwing six scoreless no-hit innings. He struck out five.

 

Boston Red Sox at Texas Rangers
Yorvit Torrealba went 2-for-4 with two runs, a home run, and two RBI. Julio Borbon went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Pedro Strop struck out two in a scoreless inning of relief.

 

Milwaukee Brewers at Cincinnati Reds
Drew Stubbs went 2-for-3 with a run, an RBI, and a stolen base. Scott Rolen went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run. Travis Wood gave up one run on four hits with seven strikeouts in seven innings to earn the win. Nick Masset struck out two in a scoreless inning of relief.

 

Arizona Diamondbacks at Colorado Rockies
Chris Iannetta went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI for the Rockies. Jorge de la Rosa gave up three hits with five strikeouts in 5.1 scoreless innings.

 

Seattle Mariners at Oakland A’s
Milton Bradley went 2-for-5 with a run and a stolen base. Jack Wilson went 2-for-4 with a run. Jason Vargas got a no-decision despite holding the A’s to one run on five hits with six strikeouts in 6.2 innings. Daric Barton went 3-for-4 for the A’s.
