MLB Fantasy Baseball Box Score Breakouts, 4/7/11

Here’s a look at the unheralded fantasy baseball players who played well yesterday.

Boston Red Sox at Cleveland Indians

The story here, besides Boston falling to 0-6, was the pitching. Fausto Carmona (seven scoreless innings, two hits) and Jon Lester (seven scoreless innings, three hits, nine strikeouts) tossed gems. Marco Scutaro went 2-for-2 with a walk.

Oakland A’s at Toronto Blue Jays

Same deal here. Trevor Cahill (eight innings, one run, three hits, seven strikeouts) and Ricky Romero (7.1 innings, one run, four hits) were great. Conor Jackson went 1-for-3 with the game-winning RBI.

Houston Astros at Cincinnati Reds 

Brett Myers gave up two runs in 6.1 innings. Sam LeCure gave up two runs with six strikeouts in five innings. Neither factored into the decision. Edgar Renteria went 3-for-3 with an RBI.

Colorado Rockies at Pittsburgh Pirates

Dexter Fowler went 2-for-5 with two runs. Ryan Spilborghs went 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI. Esmil Rogers gave up one run on four hits with seven strikeouts in 7.1 innings for the win.

Minnesota Twins at New York Yankees 

A.J. Burnett gave up two runs on five hits with five strikeout in six innings to improve to 2-0. Dusty Hughes had two strikeouts in a scoreless inning for the Twins.

Atlanta Braves at Milwaukee Brewers

Carlos Gomez went 2-for-4 with a run. George Kottaras went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Shaun Marcum gave up two runs on five hits in six innings to even his record at 1-1.

Tampa Bay Rays at Chicago White Sox

Edwin Jackson, yesterday’s streaming pitcher option, gave up one run on four hits with 13 strikeouts. Brent Lillibridge went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.

New York Mets at Philadelphia Phillies

Placido Polanco went 2-for-5v with four RBI. Wilson Valdez went 4-for-4 with three runs and three RBI. Raul Ibanez went 1-for-3 with three runs, a home run and two RBI.

Washington Nationals at Florida Marlins

Ian Desmond went 2-for-5 with a run and two stolen bases. Adam LaRoche went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run. Tyler Clippard struck out three in two scoreless innings. John Buck went 2-for-5 with a run. Wes Helms went 2-for-4.

Detroit Tigers at Baltimore Orioles

Mark Reynolds went 2-for-3 with a run and three RBI. Austin Jackson went 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI. Brennan Boesch went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.
