Here’s a look at the unheralded fantasy baseball players who played well yesterday:
Toronto Blue Jays at Boston Red Sox
Jed Lowrie went 4-for-5 with two runs, a home run and four RBI. J.D. Drew went 2-for-4 with a run. Dice-K gave up one hit in seven scoreless innings for the win as Boston dominated on Patriots’ Day.
Chicago White Sox at Tampa Bay Rays
Felipe Lopez went 3-for-4 with two runs, a home run and three RBI. Matt Joyce went 2-for-4 with a run and a stolen base. David Price threw a masterpiece.
Minnesota Twins at Baltimore Orioles
Michael Cuddyer went 2-for-4 with a run. Danny Valencia went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Drew Butera went 2-for-4 with three RBI as the bottom of the Twins lineup did the damage. Robert Andino went 2-for-3 for the O’s.
Milwaukee Brewers at Philadelphia Phillies
Carlos Gomez went 2-for-5 with two runs, an RBI and a stolen base (four). Yunieksy Betancourt knocked in two runs. Jonathan Lucroy went 3-for-5 with a run and an RBI. Placido Polanco went 2-for-5 with a run to raise his average to .375. Shaun Marcum (seven innings, one unearned run) and Joe Blanton (seven innings, two runs) pitched well, but neither factored into the decision.
Pittsburgh Pirates at Cincinnati Reds
Matt Diaz went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Steve Pearce went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Lyle Overbay was 2-for-4 with one RBI. Chris Snyder was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Ronny Cedeno went 2-for-5 with a two runs. Chris Heisey hit a two-run homer for the Reds. Kevin Correia threw a complete game, allowing two earned runs on four hits with five strikeouts to improve to 3-1 wtih a 2.48 ERA.
Los Angeles Angels at Texas Rangers
David Murphy went 2-for-3 with a run to raise his average to .353. Mitch Moreland went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI. Maicer Izturis went 2-for-4 to raise his average to .391. Peter Bourjos also had two hits. C.J. Wilson gave up one run with nine strikeouts in seven innings for the win. He’s 2-0 with a 3.08 ERA.
San Diego Padres at Chicago Cubs
Carlos Zambrano (eight scoreless innings, three hits, 10 strikeouts) and Tim Stauffer (seven scoreless innings) dueled it out, but did not factor into the decision. Jason Bartlett went 2-for-4.
San Francisco Giants at Colorado Rockies
Freddy Sanchez went 2-for-5 with two runs and a homer. Pat Burrell went 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBI. Nate Schierholtz went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. Todd Helton went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Cleveland Indians at Kansas City Royals
Asdrubal Cabrera went 2-for-5. Matt LaPorta went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Kyle Davies gave up two runs with seven strikeouts in six innings, but got a no-decision.
Detroit Tigers at Seattle Mariners
Brennan Boesch went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Jhonny Peralta went 2-for-5 with three RBI. Milton Bradley went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI. Max Scherzer and Jason Vargas each gave up two runs in six innings. Scherzer struck out seven.
Atlanta Braves at Los Angeles Dodgers
James Loney went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Juan Uribe went 2-for-4 with a run. Ted Lilly, yesterday’s streaming pitcher option gave up four hits with six strikeouts in seven scoreless innings for the win.
