MLB Fantasy Baseball Box Score Breakouts: April 24, 2011

Here’s a look at the unheralded fantasy baseball players who played well yesterday.



Chicago White Sox @ Detroit Tigers

Austin Jackson went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Brennan Boesch went 2-for-4 to raise his average to .348. A.J. Pierzynski went 2-for-4. It was Max Scherzer’s eight shutout innings that told the story though.



Tampa Bay Rays @ Toronto Blue Jays

Johnny Damon went 2-for-4 with a run to raise his average to .260. He’s riding a 13-game hitting streak. James Shields threw a four-hit shutout. Ricky Romero gave up two runs and struck out 10 in seven innings but took the loss.



Arizona Diamondbacks @ New York Mets

Jason Pridie hit a three-run homer. Gerardo Parra went 2-for-4 to raise his average to .306. Jonathon Niese gave up two earned runs in seven innings for the win.



Colorado Rockies @ Florida Marlins

Omar Infante went 2-for-4 with a run and three RBI. Dexter Fowler went 2-for-4 with two runs.



New York Yankees @ Baltimore Orioles

Luke Scott went 2-for-5. Freddy Garcia, yesterday’s streaming pitcher option, gave up two hits with seven strikeouts in six innings. Jake Arrieta gave up three runs in six innings but struck out nine. Neither starter factored into the decision.



Washington Nationals @ Pittsburgh Pirates

Danny Espinosa went 3-for-5 with a run and a stolen base to raise his average to .281. Adam LaRoche went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI. Michael Morse went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI. Jerry Hairston Jr. and Pudge Rodriguez each went 2-for-4. Neil Walker went 3-for-4 with an RBI.



Houston Astros @ Milwaukee Brewers

Carlos Gomez went 3-for-5 with a run and a stolen base (six). Randy Wolf gave up one run on four hits in eight innings to improve to 3-2 with a 2.64 ERA.



Cleveland Indians @ Minnesota Twins

Jason Kubel went 2-for-3 with a run and two RBI. Jim Thome went 2-for-4, while Alexi Casilla went 2-for-3 with a run. Travis Hafner went 2-for-4 with a run. Orlando Cabrera went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI (12). Michael Brantley went 1-for-4 with two RBI.



Los Angeles Dodgers @ Chicago Cubs

Aaron Miles went 3-for-5 with a run and an RBI. Kosuke Fukudome went 2-for-5 with a run. Darwin Barney went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Marlon Byrd went 2-for-4.



Kansas City Royals @ Texas Rangers

David Murphy went 1-for-4 with three RBI. Julio Borbon went 2-for-3 with a run and two stolen bases. Mike Aviles went 3-for-5 with two home runs, four RBI and a stolen base. Wilson Betemit went 2-for-4 with a run. Alcides Escobar went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Chris Getz went 2-for-4 with a run, an RBI and a stolen base. C.J. Wilson gave up four runs in seven innings, but he struck out 10 and won.



Boston Red Sox @ Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim

Marco Scutaro went 2-for-3 with two runs. Peter Bourjos went 2-for-3. John Lackey gave up six hits with six strikeouts in eight scoreless innings for the win.



Philadelphia Phillies @ San Diego Padres

Ben Francisco went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Roy Halladay (8.2 IP, one run, 14 Ks) was ridiculous.



Atlanta Braves @ San Francisco Giants

Chipper Jones went 2-for-3 with a run and two RBI. Nate McLouth and Aaron Rowand each went 1-for-5 with two RBI. Pat Burrell went 2-for-3 with a run. Brandon Beachy gave up two runs on three hits with seven strikeouts in six innings but got a no-decision.



Oakland A’s @ Seattle Mariners

Coco Crisp went 3-for5 with three runs and a stolen base. Josh Willingham went 2-for-3 with three RBI. Ryan Langerhans went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Doug Fister gave up one run on four hits with five strikeouts in six innings but got a no-decision.



Cincinnati Reds @ St. Louis Cardinals

Yadier Molina went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI. Jake Westbrook gave up three hits in six scoreless innings for the win.
