Nick Swisher is Killing the Yankees

Nick Swisher is a one man wrecking crew this postseason, but the problem is he is wrecking his own team the New York Yankees.

For the Yankees to win the World Series against the Phillies, Swisher is going to have to step it up or move aside.  

Swisher has four hits in 32 at bats with 11 strikeouts and is currently batting  only .125 this postseason headed into the World Series against the defending World Champs.

Nick has to understand he has to produce in the postseason to really be a Yankee or sit out for the team.

Ask Alex Rodgriguez how good it feels to be a Yankee now that he is crushing the baseball in the postseason? Swisher, in three career postseasons is only hitting .161 so maybe he is not cut out for starting in October.

He played in 2006 in the postseason with Oakland and then in 2008 with the White Sox before coming over to the Yankees.  The Yankees have options in the outfield besides Swisher especially with three games to be played in Philly with no DH.

The Yankees can use Matsui or Gardner in the OF and have Swisher come of the bench if needed. If Gardner is a better option defensively in the outfield, and gives you some speed on the bases he may be a better option in certain games.

It is up to Joe Girardi to try to bring home the World Series to New York and running Swisher out there every night in the playoffs is not helping that goal. 

Swisher by all accounts is a great guy to have in the clubhouse and keeps things very loose and entertaining but the Yankees need a little more spark in this round.

It is time to see other options in right field if the Yankees plan on winning their 27th World Series.  

I think the fans and the team have all fallen in love with Swisher as a person cause he is such a likable person and has the cool Mohawk. The same fans that love you now can be chanting for Paul O’Neill if this current slumps continues into the World Series.

I wish Mr. Swisher the best of luck in the Yankees World Series showdown as the time is now to step it up and earn those stripes.
