Phillies broadcaster Harry Kalas Dies at Age 73

Sad news in the world of sports media as Harry Kalas passed away today at the age of 73. Kalas passed out in the broadcast booth of Washington's Nationals Park earlier today while preparing for this afternoon's Phillies-Nats game.

He was found at about 12:30 p.m. and was rushed to the hospital, only to be pronounced dead at 1:20 p.m. The cause of death has yet to be determined.

Kalas had been broadcasting Phillies games since 1971 and was also well-known for his work as a voice-over narrator for NFL Films. Before joining the Phillies, he broadcasted Houston Astros games from 1965-1970.
