Uncle Charlie's Fantasy Roundup: Auto-Draft Results and Opening Day

The day is here, the draft is over, and there are many, many surprises for those who couldn't make it to the war room. In our league, there were a few teams that had notable auto-drafts.

Green Monster Hooligans is a good friend of mine, one who is widely know simply as "Boston," because of his prolific love of the BoSox. So it was only fitting when he auto-drafted and with his first-round pick (third overall), was rewarded with Alex Rodriguez, star third baseman for the New York Yankees.

For those of us in the draft room, we had a little chuckle and moved on. But the auto-draft wasn't done surprising us yet. In the third round, Green Monster Hooligans again had the third pick, and picked up lifetime Yankee great Derek Jeter as his shortstop.

So, for two of the first three picks, this Boston native picked two of the top enemies of the state of Massachusetts. It continued throughout the draft, even with Yankees that changed teams, with GMH also picking up Johnny Damon in the 15th and Hideki Matsui in the 19th. And no Red Sox. That's a rough draft.

Green Monster Hooligans is currently in the lower half of the pack, in 8th place, and 23 points behind the leader. Obviously because of the bevy of Yank's on the team.

One of the other unfortunate auto-drafters was my cousin, the owner of the auspicious "Team 11." Now, my cousin is a die-hard Yankees fan. And no, he didn't draft all Red Sox.

What he did do is auto-draft the DL team of the year. Unfortunately, the auto-draft doesn't take these things into effect.

The draft started out well, grabbing Carl Crawford at the end of the first round. But it was all downhill from there. Ian Kinsler (DL) in the second, Jose Reyes (DL) in the third, Lance Berkman (DL) in the seventh, and ending up with Daisuke Matsuzaka (DL) in the 18th round.

Team 11 has some good players, but the majority of the big point-grabbers are out for a good period of time, contributing to his current 10th place standing.

We also had some auto-draft winners in our league, which was frustrating for all of us who were present in the draft room watching our picks snatched up by those who weren't.

One of our teams, F*ck Stanfurd (a Cal grad, obviously), was in the hunt for the lead instantly, even with the last pick of the round. This continued on the whole draft, and the team is one of the best in the league.

The first five rounds went as such for Stanfurd: Ryan Howard (1), Evan Longoria (2), CC Sabathia (3), Curtis Granderson (4), and Josh Johnson (5). Stanfurd has one of the best rotations in the league after Sabathia and Johnson, also adding Cliff Lee (6) and three save machines in Ryan Franklin (7), David Aardsma (8), and Brad Lidge (17).

He's also not too shabby on the offensive side, with late-round pickups David Ortiz (slipped to 16), Howie Kendrick (12), Dan Uggla (11), and Torii Hunter (9). That's a pretty good team to have chosen for you, but Stanfurd is still 23 points behind the leaders.

Keep looking for updates on standings of our league and on surprises of the week, and if you're a BR member, you can still get in the league with a great deal
