Enough about actual baseball. Sure, either the New York Mets or Kansas City Royals will end three decades of futility sometime in the next week. And great, the World Series will feature a cabal of young stars with bright personalities. And, OK, Jacob deGrom does have super dope hair.

The time has come to decide which long-suffering franchise will put a storybook ending on their season, as the 2015 World Series begins Tuesday with Game 1 of what's sure to be an enticing series.

When the 2015 World Series finally comes to an end, so to will three decades of frustration for the Fall Classic's two participants—the Kansas City Royals and New York Mets.

For it was 30 years ago, in 1985, that the Royals last won a world championship, besting the St. Louis Cardinals in a seven-game series. A year later, the Mets—with a little help from Bill Buckner—took down the Boston Red Sox, also in seven games.

It's finally here, baseball fans: The 2015 MLB World Series starts Tuesday night.

The Fall Classic is upon us, pitting two teams each ripe with key contributors set to hit the free-agent market this offseason.

The success of the Kansas City Royals and New York Mets is the result of long-term development within their respective farm systems. As such, they’ve been able to lock up players at financially friendly costs over the first few years of their careers. 

It's been a long time coming for the New York Mets and Kansas City Royals, but one of the two will end a treacherous title drought in the 2015 World Series.

The Royals came suffocatingly close to doing just that this time last year, when they took the San Francisco Giants the distance in a seven-game championship series. While they haven't won the title since 1985, the Mets won it in 1986 and haven't been back to the promised land since.

Major League Baseball’s postseason can make stars out of the ordinary, and it can also legitimize existing ones. 

This year's postseason is no exception, as it has already produced wonderful storylines for the likes of Daniel Murphy, Alcides Escobar and the New York Mets starting pitchers. With the World Series starting Tuesday night, those angles could continue to develop, or give way to new players to perform in the spotlight when the Mets and Kansas City Royals meet in the Fall Classic.

One of these teams is four wins away from winning a World Series for the first time since the Reagan administration.

The New York Mets, behind their young stud pitchers and the magician David Murphy, will be in Kansas City on Tuesday night to take on a Kansas City Royals team that looks to avenge last year's heartbreaking seven-game loss in the Fall Classic to the San Francisco Giants.

The Fall Classic pits the Kansas City Royals, last year’s bridesmaids and the epitome of a fundamentally sound team, against the budding New York Mets, who are making their first of what could be many appearances on this stage behind a youthful rotation exhibiting veteran poise.
