Dodgers' Alex Wood Loses Ball Mid-Pitch for a Balk

Anyone who grew up playing Little League has been Alex Wood at least once before.

With his Los Angeles Dodgers deadlocked at 1-1 with the Philadelphia Phillies in the bottom of the seventh inning Tuesday night, Wood reared back to deliver a full-count pitch to Odubel Herrera with runners on first and second.

Reds' Billy Hamilton Makes Leaping Over-the-Shoulder Grab

With his Cincinnati Reds clinging to a 3-2 lead in the top of the eighth inning, center fielder Billy Hamilton got on his horse and made a leaping over-the-shoulder snag right in front of the warning track.

St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Jason Heyward had a sure extra-base hit if not for Hamilton’s heroics.

As a batter, sometimes all you can do is tip your cap. The Reds held on for a 3-2 win.

Braves OF Eury Perez Holds Glove Up After Fruitless Diving Catch Attempt

Atlanta Braves outfielder Eury Perez did everything right. He tracked the ball, chased it down, dove and pointed his glove skyward to show the umpire.

Hold on, he missed a step—actually catching the ball.

Dave Dombrowski Had His Flaws but Built 1 of Tigers' Best-Ever Eras

Dave Dombrowski and I were not always on the best of terms.

Early on in his time with the Detroit Tigers, one of his close aides basically stopped talking to me, telling me, "I don't think you've been fair to Dave." Later, another aide told me that Dombrowski had made it a fireable offense to be found talking to me.

As time went on, I think Dombrowski gained a little more respect for my work. I know I gained more respect for his.

Clayton Kershaw Reminding Major League Baseball He's Still Best There Is

You could call it a comeback.

Except Clayton Kershaw never went anywhere.

The best pitcher on the planet still is and has been for most of this season. It's fair to say he hasn't been as good as he was a year ago, but you would just barely be correct in that assessment.

Astros, Rangers Benches Clear After Hank Conger, Rougned Odor Exchange Words

The intrastate rivalry between the Houston Astros and Texas Rangers just got turned up a notch.

During the ninth inning of Saturday evening's 7-6 Rangers win at Minute Maid Park, Astros catcher Hank Conger and Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor exchanged words at home plate as Odor prepared to step into the batter's box to lead off the game's final frame.

Francisco Liriano Injury: Updates on Pirates P's Neck and Return

Jose Bautista Crushes Monster Home Run vs. Rays

There are home runs, and then there are no-doubters.

The home run hit by Toronto Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista in the bottom of the sixth inning of Saturday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays would fall into the latter category.

On a 2-0 count, Rays right-hander Steve Geltz left a pitch up over the plate, and Bautista made him pay. It wasn't a matter of if the ball would clear the left-field wall. It was a matter of which deck it would land in.
