Every team wants one, he's more important than a power hitter, a shut down closer, or a super utility man.  Every team wants a young No.1 starter at or under the age of 26; a young superstar pitcher you can build your team around, one less spot in the rotation that you have to worry about.

You hold on to these pitchers like your life depends on it, and you overprotect that arm like you overprotect your child.  Because your entire franchise is on that throwing arm, and everybody knows that throwing arms are made out of glass.

When you think of the Detroit Tigers over the last few years, who are the players that come to mind?

Magglio Ordonez or Ivan Rodriguez? Carlos Guillen, Brandon Inge and Johnny Damon?

It always seems like the Tigers are the oldest team in the league. This season, however, that could not be farther from the truth.

On their 40-man roster, Detroit has only nine players over the age of 31.

As we know, the injury of Adam Wainwright has put the St. Louis Cardinals in a really tough position. What was looking to be a promising 2011 season is now looking to be one of disappointment. Adam Wainwright has been the Cy Young runner-up in the National League the past two seasons. According to the Wins Above Replacement statistic, Wainwright was worth 5.7 and 6.1 wins in 2009 and 2010 respectively.

We may never know if the Wilpon family, principal owners of the New York Mets, benefited or lost as a result from dealings with Ponzi schemer Bernard Madoff.

However, we will soon know if the Wilpons' involvement with Madoff will cost their beloved Mets on the field.

The recent lawsuit against the Wilpons will cost them millions. It's not relevant if they win or lose in the courtroom.

In a process facilitated by MLB, medical specialists have evaluated Miguel Cabrera and recommended an outpatient rehabilitation program to deal with his alcohol related issues which re-emergered following his arrest last week for a DUI. 

Cabrera was also charged with two misdemeanor resisting arrest charges without violence.

The Minnesota Twins are hoping that history repeats itself with their Rule 5 draft pick Scott Diamond whom they selected from the Atlanta Braves. 

It was 11 seasons ago when the Twins received another left handed starting pitcher as a Rule 5 draft pick from the Houston Astros. 

The past few seasons, the Mets and Yankees have been on opposite ends of the baseball spectrum.
