Dan Uggla Signs Extension with Atlanta Braves

If you had to name the three players in Major League Baseball who have been associated with the term “contract extension” over the past three or four seasons, who would you name?

Johnny Damon Hoping for a Second Chance With the New York Yankees

It seems like yesterday that Johnny Damon was the special guest host for WWE's Monday Night Raw, dressed like a Creed roadie and saying things like, "Hey, John Cena, that's a real home run of an idea."

Fantasy Baseball Top 15 Catchers for 2011: Keeper Leagues

Obviously, when you are drafting for a keeper league, things are a little bit different than if you are drafting simply for one year.  You need to think not just for 2011, but potentially 2012 and beyond (depending on your format).  Let’s take a look at how that changes things for our rankings:

Manny Ramirez, Adrian Gonzalez, and Mark Reynolds No More in NL West

The world series was won.  The parade is over.  Now it's time to look at the division as a whole and really ponder about who is going to come out on top in 2011.  Many changes have been made to all teams in the division and fans from Los Angeles, San Diego, Arizona, Colorado and especially San Fransisco all know that their team has a chance to compete.  Let's go down the list of teams in the division and see who has the best shot of coming out on top in the NL West.

Adrian Beltre "Wants To Win" Only If The Price Is Right

Free Agent third baseman Adrian Beltre is no longer a free agent, after signing a 6-year, $96 million deal with the Texas Rangers.

I'm sure this move is getting Rangers fans very excited.

If I were a Rangers fan, I'd be upset.

MLB Trade Rumors: Deals That Could Tip the Balance of Power in the NL West

The 2010 World Series Champion San Francisco Giants are the class of Major League Baseball until enough games are played in 2011 to argue otherwise. That is the reality created by winning the Fall Classic—everyone else is a paper tiger while San Francisco is the real McCoy.

Everyone else must speak in conditionals; the Giants get to use the present tense while wearing a winner's smile.

Of course, don't try to convince Philadelphia, Boston or New York of this fact.

Fantasy Baseball 2011 Projection: Is Chris Johnson Worth Targeting?

Chris Johnson burst onto the fantasy baseball scene in 2010 for the Houston Astros.  Playing 3B, among the shallowest positions, he caught fire in the second half helping to carry many to fantasy glory.  Overall, he had the following line:

362 At Bats
.308 Batting Average (105 Hits)
11 Home Runs
52 RBI
40 Runs
3 Stolen Bases
.337 On Base Percentage
.481 Slugging Percentage
.387 Batting Average on Balls in Play

MLB Hall of Fame: One-Team Hall of Famers Becoming a Dying Breed in Baseball

Think back four years ago.

No, not to the point when unemployment was still under 6%, the debt was under $10 trillion or the St. Louis Cardinals were reigning World Series Champions, but to the voting in January 2007.

Baseball writers, fans and historians all knew that it was going to be a unique day, when Cal Ripken Jr. and Tony Gwynn, two of the surest Hall of Famers anyone who had watched baseball between 1982 and 2001 ever saw, went into Cooperstown.

Baseball Hall of Fame: Shortchanging the History of the Game

It’s always been a restrictive club. A player's got to earn his election to the Baseball Hall of Fame, has to pay his dues.

Unanimous election is unheard of; even making it on the first ballot is a challenge.

Yet while many baseball purists and dignitaries alike laud the intricate web of unspoken guidelines that the Baseball Writers Association of America (BBWAA) adheres to, others worry that the Hall is becoming too restrictive, showing more respect for baseball historians than the fans.

Adrian Beltre Signs With The Rangers… And The Red Sox Keep Getting Richer

As the 2010 season unfolded, the Red Sox front office declared it was interested in re-signing soon-to-be-free-agents Adrian Beltre and Victor Martinez.

And as the offseason began, GM Theo Epstein insisted retaining both players was one of the organization’s top priorities.

But actions speak louder than words. The Red Sox failed to make a substantive offer to either player and watched as both departed for other destinations.
