Cliff Lee, Brandon Webb Have Their Options Picked Up

The hot stove is on FIRE!!!

The champagne hasn’t dried yet in the Yankee locker room and we have already seen Mark Teahen and JJ Hardy get traded and the Angels re-sign Bobby Abreu.

This afternoon, we got some more hot stove news as two of the premier pitchers in baseball had their options picked up. One move was a no-brainer and the other move I was a little surprised by.

First, the no-brainer.

Mark Teahen To White Sox? A Rumor That Would Be Beneficial To All

In a town where winning is rare, player character is one element fans focus too much attention on.

For what it's worth, though, Mark Teahen is a model citizen and a pleasure to be around.

So was Allard Baird and he set the Royals back years by neglecting the farm system and encouraging incompetent scouting.

Both of these individuals were in over their heads due to the positions they were put into by this franchise.

What's Next For Pedro Martinez?

Unless he's pitching against your favorite team, it's quite difficult not to be a fan of Pedro Martinez.

Martinez is more than just a future Hall of Fame pitcher. He's an entertainer that often leaves his opponents baffled one minute but cracking up with laughter the next.

Lincecum Cited for Possession: Hitters Aren't the Only Thing He Smokes

If you're under 35 or have spent ANY time on the West Coast, the news that Tim Lincecum was pulled over and arrested on misdemeanor charges for marijuana possession isn't exactly surprising. Note that it was possession and NOT driving under the influence, which would be a different tune.

Anyway, it's the offseason, the Freak is relaxing, and he's a product of the Pacific Northwest.

Here's a little secret—weed is really popular on the West Coast.

My Fictional 2010 Hall of Fame Ballot

The baseball season is over. The hot stove season begins.

The highlight of the offseason for most baseball fans, however, is the annual narcissism festival of the BBWAA, which is telling us, the fans, who the best players in baseball history are.

The logic of men like Jim Rice being enshrined over men like Ron Santo is another topic for another day, however. This is about 2010, and the eligibles.

Tim Lincecum Smokes Weed: Time to Cue the Outraged Media

Cy Young award winner Tim Lincecum was cited for misdemeanor marijuana possession last weekend in southern Washington State.

Washington State Patrol reported smelling marijuana when Lincecum initially rolled down the window, and upon inquiring about the smell Lincecum produced 3.3 grams and a pipe.

I just want to tell those members of the media who are about to explode: its OK.

Life will go on.

Look, the 25-year old Lincecum went to Liberty High School in Renton, WA just a few miles away from me and was also just a grade in front of me.

World Series: Yankees Emerge Victoriuos, but Phillies are Hardly Losers

Well, it’s over. The New York Yankees are world champions for the 27th time, in their history. The Phillies walk away from the World Series losers for the first time since 1993.
But there sure is a hell of a lot to be thankful for, if you are a Phillies fan.

This team is truly one of the greatest in the history of this franchise. We’ve been lucky enough to witness the golden era of one of America’s oldest ball clubs.

They may not have been victorious, but they sure gave it their all.

New York Yankees: Inside The Number 27

First off, let me congratulate the Yankees on winning their 27th World Championship by defeating the Philadelphia Phillies 7-3 in Game Six at the new Yankee Stadium.

The point of this article is to go in depth into the number 27, and even using the two and the seven in a math equation to bring up a significance. I hope you enjoy.

27 = The number of world championships for the New York Yankees after defeating the Philadelphia Phillies to win the World Series in Six games.

New York Yankees Win Championship 27*

As many people at the beginning of the 2009 season predicted, the New York Yankees have returned to glory to win their 27th World Series.

But this one shouldn't count.

As with Barry Bonds, who used steroids throughout much of the 2000's, the Yankees have also used an unfair advantage.

Money.

In my opinion, the Yankees would not have won this title without the help of free agency.

Defending A.J. Pierzynski

After toiling in obscurity for a decade, a young team of nobodies returns their franchise to the playoffs. Led by a well-balanced lineup with just enough punch and a pitching staff with enough solid arms to hold a team down, the nobodies prove talented enough to compete, but underappreciated enough to surprise.

After earning a split through the first four games of the ALDS, the nobodies head to Oakland for a decisive game five—an all but certain on paper loss.
