Book Review: We're Gonna Win, Twins!

Since starting this blog, a door has been opened for several great opportunities. One such opportunity has been to review several books.

As a college student, I can't tell you how much I hate reading boring material. We've all been there.

Flying Tiger: Austin Jackson Might Be Detroit's Next Rookie of the Year

Less than six months into his Tigers career, Jackson is working to dilute Detroit's memory of former fan favorite Curtis Granderson.

From day one, management hoped the 23-year-old would fill Granderson's role: to man Comerica Park's cavernous center field and set the table for the big boppers.

Jackson has quickly surpassed the expectations thrust upon him.

Last spring, Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson dubbed him the best athlete in the New York Yankees organization—and there was plenty of evidence to back that up.

Cleveland Indians News And Notes

Considering the Cleveland Indians got off to a 4-8 start last year, a 6-6 start this year seems pretty good. Then again, anytime a team from the miserable sports city in America is .500 or better, I guess the people from Cleveland are happy.

Let’s see what else is going on with the Indians.

Minnesota Twins Raise Morale in the Minneapolis Spring

Springtime is a phenomenal time to be a sports fan.

It starts with March Madness, which was better than ever this year. Baseball season kicks off. The NBA and NHL playoffs get started. Even football is in the fold, with the NFL Draft taking place at the end of April. What's not to love about spring sports?

However, it's not all sunshine and lollipops this spring in the Land of 10,000 Lakes.

New For 2010: Five Changes at Cleveland Indians' Progressive Field

Last night, I had the great pleasure of going to Progressive Field for the first time this year.

I saw a great game from great seats ($17 for front-row bleacher seats, thank you StubHub) with great weather (despite an ominous forecast).

However, as I strolled to my seat, I began to notice that many parts of the stadium were not how I remembered them.

For those Tribe fans who have not yet made a pilgrimage to the Prog, here's a list of what to expect.

Brad Thomas is My 25th Favorite Detroit Tiger

Sabermetricians like to compare MLB players to "replacement players." But sometimes it's a hard to grasp the concept. How exactly do they quantify "replacement level?"

Detroiters need look no further than that Tigers bullpen for the perfect example: Brad Thomas.

Thomas is the epitome of replacement-level talent in Major League Baseball.

Five Reasons Why Orlando Hudson's MLB Racism Claims May Be Wrong

Recently, Orlando Hudson of the Minnesota Twins has leveled the claim that Jermaine Dye and Gary Sheffield are not playing for a major league team in 2010 because the owners are racists. I can't get into the heads of each owner to know if Hudson is right or wrong. However, I have found 5 reasons why he might be wrong.

Rookie Austin Jackson of the Detroit Tigers Is Rude Beyond His Years

Who does Austin Jackson think he is?

I tell you, these kids nowadays.

Someone should teach this rookie some manners. He’s played about a week and a half in the big leagues, and you’d think he owns the place.

It all started on Opening Day, in Kansas City.

The 23-year-old whippersnapper of a leadoff hitter and center fielder for the Tigers was in the box against Zack Greinke. Yes, THAT Zack Greinke—the one who’s stingier in giving up runs than Jack Benny was with his money.

Is the Chicago White Sox Offense Heading North?

If you look at the box score for Wednesday night's game in Toronto, the White Sox starting nine, plus a few pinch hitters, are batting .227 as a team.

While I know that seems low, to me it shows promise.

In Saturday's loss to the Minnesota Twins the team was only batting .186, a good 40 points lower.
