Now that Derek Jeter is officially back where he belongs, we can look ahead to next season. Of course there is still a lot of decisions to be made, but Jeter is no longer one of them.

Last season, Jeter had the worst statistical season of his career. He hit just .270 with 10 homers and 67 RBI. His on base percentage was .340, 45 points lower than his career average of .385.

Answering the Red Sox's acquisition of Adrian Gonzalez, Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera have officially re-signed with the New York Yankees. 

Adrian Gonzalez went a thorough physical at Massachusetts General Hospital today. While the organization has not officially commented on the results, a team official (speaking on the condition of anonymity) said he passed.

Currently, the club, the player and his agent are sequestered in an effort to hammer out a contract extension…so while the Red Sox have not confirmed that he passed the physical, it seems unlikely they would be negotiating a contract extension if he had not.

With the announcement today that Derek Jeter and the New York Yankees have finally agreed on a new contract, the Yankees can turn their attention to their big offseason target—Cliff Lee.

There was never any doubt that Jeter would be returning to the Bronx, despite harsh statements from both sides and the Yankees' decision not to offer Jeter arbitration.

The New York Yankees and Derek Jeter have reportedly agreed to a three-year deal worth about $51 million.

There is also an option for a fourth year that is worth less than the $17 million that he will earn on average for the first three years of the deal.

According to Sweeney Murti of WFAN, there are many elements that will determine the final number for the option in Jeter's deal.

The Boston Red Sox acquired power-hitting Adrian Gonzalez in a trade with the San Diego Padres for three top prospects. As a result of this trade, Kevin Youkilis will move from first base to third base.

This also means that Adrian Beltre will not play for the Red Sox in 2011.

After a major down year in 2009, Beltre had a bounce-back year in Boston hitting .321, 28 HR and 102 RBI. It was only the second time in his career that he has hit 100 RBI or more.

Everybody knows the New York Yankees have their hearts set on adding lefty ace Cliff Lee this offseason, perhaps as early as the winter meetings next week. Of late, however, there has been a lot of talk about the interest being shown by the Bronx Bombers in free agent outfielder Carl Crawford.

It's reportedly happened; Derek Jeter will be wearing the immaculate pinstripes for a few more years.

A source with knowledge has told ESPN that Derek Jeter has re-signed for a three year contract that will pay him $17 million. The end of the contract has an option for a fourth year at a lower salary the report says.

Could I be more excited? Doubtful. Seriously, I could try, but I don’t see it happening. It’s so far, as of the writing of this column, unconfirmed, but when Buster Olney says that it’s a done deal we can pretty much assume that it is. Adrian Gonzalez will be manning the corner in the new, revamped Boston Red Sox infield, moving All-Star Kevin Youkilis to 3^rd and allowing Boston to set Adrian Beltre free.
