Well, they by no means disappointed. Last night, in a rather anticlimactic fashion, the Phillies relinquished their title of baseball’s best to the clearly superior Yankees.

Make no doubt about it, folks. The Yankees were the better team. They had three reliable workhorses who left little to guesswork.

They synchronized timely hitting with flashes of power. And, much like the Phillies did last year, had the luxury of summoning an absolute stopper to put the game away.

So Jimmy Rollins proved once again that when it comes to playoffs and predictions, he's an idiot. Picking the Phillies to win in five games was clearly an act of a delusional man. Thank God the mighty Yankees proved him wrong.

Wait. Hang on. Scratch that.

Rollins shouldn't be criticized for making a prediction. He should be applauded for pointing out (indirectly and probably unintentionally) the laziness of sportswriters.

Anybody who knows anything about baseball—or sports in general—knows the baseball legends. They know Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Willie Mays, even Derek Jeter. But also, they know Ty Cobb. They know the tremendous player he was, but also—and perhaps unfortunately so—they know what kind of person he was off the field. Let's dive into what his life was like—on the diamond, in the clubhouse, and at home with his parents, and wife.

After the New York Yankees won the World Series of Baseball for the first time since 2000 I had a chance to sit down with some of the players, namely Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez (herein referred to as A-Rod), and World Series MVP Hideki Matsui!

What followed was an honest interview between three celebrity baseball players dosed with champagne and one serious reporter with a mission to expose the truth.

Drew: So guys, how does it feel to be you ?

I am from Connecticut.  I am a DIEHARD Red Sox fan.  And I know one thing about the New York Yankees—there is no other team more deserving of a championship in 2009.

I can already read what the comments on this message board will say: "They just bought their title"..."Girardi's terrible, anyone could manage that roster"..."ARod and Pettite took steroids." Those are excuses for yourself and for your own team.

The New York Yankees defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 7-3 Wednesday night in the Bronx to win their record 27th World Series championship.

The Yankees, who went 103-59 to establish 2009's best mark in Major League Baseball, simply outclassed the Phillies over the course of six games.

The Yankees' 27th World Series title is a testament to what money can buy.

The Yankees bid farewell to high-priced (but aging or diminished) players like Mike Mussina, Carl Pavano, Jason Giambi, and Bobby Abreu last offseason, and then replaced them with younger, fresher free agents.

This picture disturbs me.

Why, you may ask?

Well, if C.C. Sabathia, A.J. Burnett, Mark Teixeira, and Nick Swisher had not come to the Bronx...

Let's take a flashback.

2008 NBA Finals

Doc Rivers, just a year before, had coached the Celtics to a 24-58 record, a winning percentage of .293! 

But now, Doc gets all the credit, because he has just led his team to a championship.

Despite the anxious wishes of Twins’ fans everywhere, the Twins have yet to make their first move this offseason.

Expectations for the 2009 season were sky-high for the Milwaukee Brewers. Despite the departure of CC Sabathia and Ben Sheets, many felt the Brewers would still compete for a playoff spot after successfully making the playoffs in 2008.

Unfortunately, the starting rotation assembled my Brewers GM Doug Melvin didn't perform up to expectations. The team fell on hard times due to injury and ineffectiveness, and the team slipped to third in the division with an 80-82 record.
