One of the most exciting, positive "unknowns" about the 2011 Boston Red Sox is the combined impact Carl Crawford and Jacoby Ellsbury will have on the basepaths. 

Speculation has focused on the Sox' newly improved hitting lineup and its strong pitching rotation, but, relatively little attention has been given to just how extraordinary it is for a team to have two of the game's most prolific base stealers on the same side for nine innings.

That's right, for the first time in recent memory, the day's sporting headlines have not been dominated by Albert Pujols chatter and, I must say, the silence is deafening.

Angels right-hander Matt Palmer feels like a new man after undergoing successful knee surgery last October. 

Palmer was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in 2002, and started his career by having a 1.83 ERA while with the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes. He spent three years in Double-A before being promoted to Triple-A Fresno in 2006. 

Palmer was called up by the Giants in August 2008, and after making three starts was sent back down to Triple-A. 

The team that started the whole bobble-head collectible scene for Major League Baseball is at it again, this time with a figurine immortalizing a highly controversial play from the 1991 World Series between the Atlanta Braves and the Minnesota Twins.

This coming season will be the 20th anniversary of what ESPN ranked as the best World Series ever played.

The bobble head commemorates one of the most memorable plays of a World Series filled with them. 

Before the 2008 season, Baseball America named Wade Davis the 17th-best prospect in all of baseball.

Then in 2009, Davis resurfaced on the list as No. 32, and in 2010 he reappeared as No. 34.

Zack Greinke has been a tough pitcher to figure out in recent seasons. After battling depression early in his career, Greinke has posted ERAs of 3.47, 2.16 and 4.17 in the last three seasons.

Since the first day they arrived in town, the Washington Nationals promised that restocking the team's depleted farm system would be their top priority.

And since that first draft back in 2005, the team has been stocking their farm system with talented young pitchers. Then general manager Jim Bowden said that was the way to do it.
