Can Derek Jeter Silence His Critics Next Season?

Now that Derek Jeter is officially back where he belongs, we can look ahead to next season. Of course there is still a lot of decisions to be made, but Jeter is no longer one of them.

Last season, Jeter had the worst statistical season of his career. He hit just .270 with 10 homers and 67 RBI. His on base percentage was .340, 45 points lower than his career average of .385.

Washington Nationals Can Upgrade First Base with Jorge Cantu and Call It Good

For the last couple of days, I have been doing a lot of writing about the loss of Adam Dunn and how that affects the Washington Nationals.

I've been comparing Dunn's offensive capabilities against two of his most likely replacements, Carlos Pena and Adam LaRoche, and have come to the conclusion that even those two might be more than the Nationals need in 2011.

Adrian Gonzalez Passes Boston Red Sox Physical, Working To Finalize Extension

Adrian Gonzalez went a thorough physical at Massachusetts General Hospital today. While the organization has not officially commented on the results, a team official (speaking on the condition of anonymity) said he passed.

Currently, the club, the player and his agent are sequestered in an effort to hammer out a contract extension…so while the Red Sox have not confirmed that he passed the physical, it seems unlikely they would be negotiating a contract extension if he had not.

Fantasy Baseball Fallout: With Adrian Gonzalez Gone, San Diego Mourns

After several of years of rumor and speculation, Adrian Gonzalez has finally been traded from the San Diego Padres to the Boston Red Sox. It almost goes without saying, but leaving the cavernous Petco Park and anemic Padres lineup will do wonders for Gonzo’s fantasy production. The real impact of the trade is how it affects those left behind in (or sent to) San Diego.

Fantasy Baseball Transaction Analysis: Adrian Gonzalez Traded To Red Sox

After years of rumors, Adrian Gonzalez has finally been traded to the Boston Red Sox.  Dan Hayes of the North County Times (via Twitter) has reported that the Padres will receive P Casey Kelly, 1B Anthony Rizzo and OF Reymond Fuentes in return.  Other reports have a player to be named later also included.

Derek Jeter Re-Signs With Yankees: So Who Won The Negotiations?

With the announcement today that Derek Jeter and the New York Yankees have finally agreed on a new contract, the Yankees can turn their attention to their big offseason target—Cliff Lee.

There was never any doubt that Jeter would be returning to the Bronx, despite harsh statements from both sides and the Yankees' decision not to offer Jeter arbitration.

New York Yankees: Wild Ride Over as Derek Jeter Reportedly Signs New 3-Year Deal

The New York Yankees and Derek Jeter have reportedly agreed to a three-year deal worth about $51 million.

There is also an option for a fourth year that is worth less than the $17 million that he will earn on average for the first three years of the deal.

According to Sweeney Murti of WFAN, there are many elements that will determine the final number for the option in Jeter's deal.

Derek Jeter Reportedly Returns To New York

It's reportedly happened; Derek Jeter will be wearing the immaculate pinstripes for a few more years.

A source with knowledge has told ESPN that Derek Jeter has re-signed for a three year contract that will pay him $17 million. The end of the contract has an option for a fourth year at a lower salary the report says.

Adrian Gonzalez From The Padres To The Red Sox For Casey Kelly Plus Others

Could I be more excited? Doubtful. Seriously, I could try, but I don’t see it happening. It’s so far, as of the writing of this column, unconfirmed, but when Buster Olney says that it’s a done deal we can pretty much assume that it is. Adrian Gonzalez will be manning the corner in the new, revamped Boston Red Sox infield, moving All-Star Kevin Youkilis to 3rd and allowing Boston to set Adrian Beltre free.

New York Mets GM Alderson Will Add Players Next Week—Just Don't Expect Much

Before the Winter Meetings begin next week in Florida, Mets general manager Sandy Alderson told the New York Post this week that the team would be bringing back players to bolster their lineup for next season, but he was quick to caution fans.

"I will guarantee you we will come back with some new players," Alderson said. "I can't guarantee you how high-profiile they will be."
