NLCS Breakdown: Comparing The Giants and Phillies Defensively in 2010

As a Giants fan and writer, I just can't get over what Buster Olney said on Bill Simmons' MLB Playoff Podcast, which I listened to yesterday.

Basically, I came away with four things:

1.) The Tampa Bay Rays have the best GM in baseball (probably true).

2.) The Red Sox are hurting in terms of the money they owe to contracts next year (true, but unnecessary considering the Red Sox aren't in the playoffs).

Five Reasons You Shouldn't Be Afraid of Fantasy Basketball

Are you new to fantasy basketball? Maybe you have played fantasy sports before but have been hesitant to try out fantasy basketball for one reason or another.

Well, here are five good reasons why you should take the leap and give fantasy basketball a chance if you’ve never played before:

    1) Like any other sport, it takes time to learn.

New York Yankees' GM Brian Cashman Says A.J. Burnett May Get ALCS Start

Now that the ALCS matchup has been determined after the Texas Rangers sent the Tampa Bay Rays packing with a 5-1 victory last night in St. Petersburg, the Yankees have a decision to make.

Yankees News: Burnett, Swisher, and Thames

So the Rangers finally finished off the Rays last night so the Yankees will fly over to Texas to prepare for the ALCS that will start on Friday.

    Here are some notes:

A Youth Movement in Major League Baseball

Months before Stephen Strasburg's name (and elbow) was mentioned in the same sentence as Tommy John, the hype surrounding him and the anticipation of his arrival into Major League Baseball rivaled fans consumption of Fernandomania in the 1980s.

Front Page News: Texas Rangers Push Dallas Cowboys to Page Two

The Texas Rangers and their fans, the long-time ones at least, spent the night celebrating the team's division series win for the first time in franchise history.

With the win and straight Cliff Lee dominance, the Rangers pushed the Dallas Cowboys to page two for the first time in, well, a long time.

2010 MLB Playoffs: 10 Ways To Improve MLB's Postseason

Admit it, you’re enjoying these baseball playoffs. The excitement. The do-or-die nature of every game. Brian Wilson’s epic beard-mohawk combo that makes him look like a guy begging for change outside McDonald’s.

    The—

Wait, what’s that? You’re not enjoying these playoffs? Really? Maybe I’m the only one.

Fantasy Baseball Rankings: Top 15 Catchers For 2011

It’s never too early to start looking towards Draft Day 2011, is it?

Let’s kick off our offseason rankings taking a look at my Top 15 catchers for 2011.

Keep in mind that these will be updated throughout the offseason, depending on player movement and finalizing my projections:

ALDS 2010: Texas Rangers Break 39 Year Curse With ALDS Win

There will be joy in Texas, for mighty Ian Kinsler has hit a homerun.

The Texas Rangers, facing elimination in game five, and yet another first round postseason exit, were able to finally muster up some magic for a franchise that has not had much to get excited about. In 1996, 1998, and 1999 the Texas Rangers won the AL West, but each time they would fall to the Yankees in the ALDS, winning only one game in three postseason appearances.

ALDS 2010: Rangers Celebrate Win Sans Alcohol for Josh Hamilton

The Texas Rangers held what looked like a typical clubhouse celebration after winning the ALDS on Tuesday night in St. Petersburg. However, if you watched closely, the Rangers’ first postseason series victory in franchise history had one major difference during the locker room scene on TV: they were partying with pop instead of champagne and beer.
