Boston Red Sox vs. Cleveland Indians: Indians Take First Game of the Series

The Cleveland Indians move up to a .500 record, keeping the Boston Red Sox winless.  It is clear that the better team won in this game, considering the Tribe’s current team batting average of .290 versus the Red Sox’s .186.

Fantasy Baseball Closer's Corner: Angels' Fernando Rodney out, Jordan Walden in

In Monday’s Closer’s Corner, I singled out the Angels bullpen and suggested Fernando Rodney’s struggles could soon lead to a change.

On Tuesday, Mike Scioscia stripped Rodney of his ninth inning duties until “he gets back in touch with some things.”

Tampa Bay Rays: Evan Longoria Heads To the DL

An already suspect Tampa Bay Rays offense just got even more suspect over the weekend.

It was bad enough that the Baltimore Orioles ran through the Rays like a hot knife through butter during the three-game sweep, but then the Rays lost Evan Longoria for at least 15 days

Longoria was placed on the 15-day DL with a strained left oblique.

New York Mets Family Guy Video: Even Stewie Griffin Feels the Pain of Mets Fans

Few teams in baseball enter the 2011 season with less hope than the New York Mets. From constant injury issues and disappointing play, to a rotation that is sure to struggle, to an ownership situation that is chaotic at best and downright toxic at worst, it's clear that the Mets are destined for another year near the cellar of the NL East.

Philadelphia Phillies: Cliff Lee, Ryan Howard and the First Phillie of the Week

The first three games of the season are now in the books, and the Phillies—thanks to three fine pitching performances, a terrific Opening Day comeback victory and other timely hitting this weekend—are 3-0 for the first time since Abe Lincoln manned the White House.

Okay, that was a slight exaggeration (Grant Administration?), but to Phillies Nation, the regular season could not have come soon enough or started much better.

Scott Kazmir: Not Looking Like Anaheim's Angel

The spring training struggles for Scott Kazmir translated into an awful performance in his first regular season start.

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim are looking at 2011 as a rebirth of sorts. The former dominant team in the American League West has a pretty solid lineup anchored by Torii Hunter and Vernon Wells and a solid rotation led by Jered Weaver.

Fantasy Baseball Prospect Report: Braves' Mike Minor Recalled to Start Wednesday

The Atlanta Braves have placed Jair Jurrjens on the DL (retroactive to March 25) with an oblique injury.

The team is confident that he wont need more than a week to return to 100 percent. In fact, he’s already scheduled for a rehab start on April 11 at Triple-A Gwinnett, and should be back with the Braves April 16.

MLB 2011: What Opening Day Taught Us About Each Team, Including New York Yankees

Opening Day in Major League Baseball marks the start of new life.

Winter is turning into spring, "cold" is changing to "warm", and baseball is coming out of hibernation.

The early stages of the season can tell us a lot about a team: strengths, weaknesses and if they have the potential to make a run at the postseason.

Game No. 1 of 162 has been played for each team, and we take a look at what we learned about each team on Opening Weekend 2011.

2011 MLB Fantasy Injury Report: How Long Will Rays' Evan Longoria Be Out?

Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Evan Longoria expects to miss no more than a week after leaving Saturday’s game with a sore left oblique.

Manager Joe Maddon, however, has not ruled out a DL stint. Longoria will be reevaluated on Sunday.
