According to Jon Heyman of SI.com, The New York Yankees have interest in outfielder Carl Crawford. Crawford is a pricey free agent that many teams are after and if there is any team that has the money to pay him, It is the New York Yankees.

Heyman is reporting that the meeting can take place as early as next week. Crawford might not make any sense for the Yankees because they already have a crowded outfield, but what an addition Crawford would be for the Yanks.

The White Sox added one of the games top power hitters in Adam Dunn on Friday, signing him to a four year, $56 million dollar contract. The move gives the Sox a much needed left-handed power hitter. This move, however, doesn't mean the White Sox won't quit their pursuit of resigning Paul Konerko. 

The Atlanta Braves acquired veteran right hander Scott Linebrink today from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for pitching prospect Kyle Cofield.

The move solidified the Braves' need to add a veteran presence in the bullpen. He will help out with the impressive, young core of arms the Braves already possess.

Thursday night's non-tender deadline forced the Mariners to make some moves, which included all three of a trade, a signing and a non-tender.

LHP Erik Bedard was signed to a one-year, $1 million non-guaranteed contract. Should the Mariners decide Bedard is not healthy or able to contribute they can cut him in spring training for a fraction of the contract.

Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports, via Twitter, that Carlos Villanueva has been traded to the Toronto Blue Jays. In return the Brewers will be getting that mysterious player to be named later.

Villanueva is eligible for arbitration again this year. He struggled much of last year and was apparently deemed expendable in favor of younger, cheaper relief help.

Chicago Cubs icon Ron Santo has passed away due to complications in his struggle against bladder cancer, according to WGN Radio.

Santo was a great third baseman for the Cubs from 1960 to 1973 and later became part of the Cubs radio team in 1990.

Regarded as one of the best players to never earn induction into the MLB Hall of Fame, Santo was a nine time All-Star in his 15 major league seasons.

It is with a heavy heart that the Cubs announced today the death of famed player and announcer Ron Santo.

The iconic third baseman played for the Chicago Cubs for thirteen of his fourteen MLB seasons (1960-1973), during which time he was a nine time All-Star selection, a five time Golden Glove winner and the recipient of the 1973 Lou Gehrig Memorial Award.

Ron Santo also had his number, No. 10, retired in September of 2003.

The Yankees nearly made a trade for a catcher this week.

According to the New York Times' Michael S. Schmidt, the Yankees and Dodgers nearly had a deal worked out that would have sent Francisco Cervelli to Los Angeles for Russell Martin.

The Dodgers did just non-tender Martin, making him a free agent, so now the Yankees wouldn't have to give up anybody if they wanted to pursue Martin to be their next catcher.

Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times has just reported that the Blue Jays could be close to signing catcher A.J. Pierzynski, formerly of the Chicago White Sox.  With the catching position not fully determined, the Jays seem to be looking for insurance behind the plate.

According to a report from FOX Sports columnist Ken Rosenthal, the Toronto Blue Jays are among the teams that are inquiring about third baseman Mark Reynolds availability.

Reynolds, who holds the National League (NL) record for strikeouts in a season with 223 in 2009—and has led the league in strikeouts each of his three full years in the show, appears to be on the Blue Jays radar as a possible replacement for Edwin Encarnacion, who was claimed off waivers from the Oakland Athletics.
