Yankees News: Francisco Cervelli Starting, Girardi Has No Job Options and Melky

Tonight is a very big game for the Yankees. It is not a must-win, but it is pretty much as close to it gets to one.

Unfortunately they have A.J. Burnett on the mound too, which makes things so much harder, but they don’t really have much of a choice.

Here are some notes:

Mike Quade Named Chicago Cubs Manager Through 2012: MLB Breaking News

The Chicago Cubs have named Mike Quade their manager and signed him to a two-year contract, according to the Chicago Tribune. Quade returns to the Cubs dugout full-time after going 24-13 as interim manager of the team following manager Lou Piniella's retirement in August.

Chicago Cubs Choose Mike Quade As Manager

Reports are in that the Chicago Cubs have taken off the interim tag from manager Mike Quade.  Quade, the 53-year-old manager who has been serving as interim manager since the retirement of Lou Piniella after the season, is finally getting his shot at managing the big leagues.

The cubs reportedly signed Quade to a two-year deal with a club option for the 2013 season, according to ESPN.

ALCS Game 3: Can the Yankees Recover After the New York Nightmare?

It was only a couple weeks ago when many experts had the New York Yankees as a lock to make it to the World Series and defend their title. Unfortunately, for the Yankee faithful, no one told the Texas Rangers.

The Rangers have certainly not been intimidated by the Yankees bloated payroll and 27 World Series titles. They haven't been phased by their previous nine losses in ten postseason games to the Yankees before this season. The 2010 Texas Rangers are not your daddy's Texas Rangers.

NLCS 2010: Oswalt, Rollins Lead Phillies To 6-1 Win Over Giants, Series Tied

A masterful outing by “Little Roy” Oswalt and a two-hit, four RBI night by shortstop Jimmy Rollins carried the Philadelphia Phillies to a 6-1 victory over the San Francisco Giants, evening their NLCS at one game apiece.

Thoughts While Watching Philadelphia Phillies Play with the San Francisco Giants

Jonathan Sanchez looked good in the first inning.  He showed a lot of guts, and I think Bochey and Sanchez have the home plate umpire on their side.  Sanchez also showed a lot of guts getting out of the first inning how he did.

Cody Ross won his first battle after his two early home runs last game.  He wheeled out of the way of a pitch that could have got him up and in then worked out a walk.

Brewers Look For New Manager: Pat Listach, Bob Melvin to Be Interviewed

It will be a great homecoming for Pat Listach on Tuesday.

The former Brewer and Astro was informed late last week that Doug Melvin asked the Washington Nationals for an interview for the managerial position, according to MLB.com and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Listach was currently beginning a managerial assignment for a Puerto Rican winter ball league, but had to change plans quickly to head back to Wisconsin. He will be meeting with Doug Melvin on Tuesday for an interview.

San Francisco Giants Vs. Philadelphia Phillies: Game 2 Live Blog

Good evening, baseball fans, and welcome to Game 2 of the NLCS between the San Francisco Giants and Philadelphia Phillies. I'm Evan Adrian, and I'll be here from the first pitch to the final out.

Roy Oswalt and Philly will try to even this series against Giants' lefty Jonathan Sanchez. If Sanchez can give San Francisco a dominant performance, they can head back to San Francisco up 2-0. This is essentially a must-win game for the Phillies.
