MLB Trade Rumors: Red Sox, Brewers Discuss Veteran Jim Edmonds

The relatively quiet Boston Red Sox front office has talked with the Milwaukee Brewers about acquiring veteran outfielder Jim Edmonds, according to MLB.com's Adam McCalvy.

This is perhaps the most feasible and sensible of all potential trades reportedly involving the Red Sox. The 40-year-old Edmonds is only under contract through this season at a very affordable $850,000 and is enjoying his best year since 2004 when the lefty posted a 1061 OPS for the St. Louis Cardinals.

MLB Trade Rumors: Twins Acquire Matt Capps; What Will Division Foes Do?

The Twins have acquired former Nats' closer Matt Capps for catching prospect Wilson Ramos, according to Steve Stone of the White Sox.

Capps was enjoying a terrific season with Washington, while Ramos is a solid prospect for the Twins.

Capps has 26 saves in 30 opportunities, with a 2.74 ERA and just nine walks in 47 games.

Ramos throws very well and while his receiving needs work, his bat plays well despite a lack of plate discipline.

Meanwhile, what does this mean for the rest of the AL Central?

MLB Trade Rumors: Red Sox Eye Trevor Hoffman, Cast Wide Net For Pitching

Milwaukee Brewer Trevor Hoffman isn't available at this year's trade deadline, but that didn't stop Red Sox General Manager Theo Epstein from asking after the closer he first met while working for the San Diego Padres, according to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal.

Not remotely effective this season, Hoffman owns a 6.82 ERA over 33 innings and joins a nearly all-inclusive group of relievers that the Red Sox are pursuing in the final days leading up to the non-waiver trade deadline this Saturday.

Katherine Connors: Miss Iowa Lashes Back at Miguel Batista

Way to go, Batista!

Bye Bye Jhonny Peralta

Today is a day that all Tribe fans have long been hoping for, but thought would never come.  Jhonny Peralta is no longer a Cleveland Indian.  Peralta was just traded to the Detroit Tigers.

Tribe fans are now feeling like a little kid waking up on Christmas, or a teenager on their last day of school.  In Cleveland, the summer wind feels sweeter,  and the water taste better.  Umm scratch the water, this calls for a celebration, so crack open the beer or Champagne.
