Bo Jackson's Baseball Career Could Have Been Hall of Fame-Worthy Without Injury

Kevin Walker kept Bo Jackson out of the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame.

Walker is the Cincinnati Bengals linebacker who tackled Jackson, then a Los Angeles Raiders running back, during a 1990 NFL playoff game. The tackle resulted in a hip injury for Jackson which he never recovered from.

ESPN Sunday Night Baseball: Boston Red Sox Heavily Favored for 3 Reasons

The Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees are tied for first place in the American League East heading into their series-finale on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball. The first pitch is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. (ET) at historic Fenway Park.

Boston holds a significant 9-2 advantage over New York in the season series, including a 10-4 home victory on Saturday afternoon.

New York Yankees: ESPNw Uses the Bombers in Pathetic Attempt To Be Get Popular

With a tad under two weeks before Superbowl XLV and a lack of sports news to report, ESPN finds some time to get their new w-brand some readers.

A.J. Burnett, Colin Cowherd and the Nature of Sports Radio

A.J. Burnett is fuming, steaming and most likely darn-right mad.

He's mad at ESPN voice on the radio, Colin Cowherd.

This one's a doozie.

Seems the guy with the strange name—that would be Mr. Cowherd—said something on his show about the New York Yankees pitcher that he might, at this moment, want to take back.

Ah, but such is the beauty of our modern day sports talk radio. Once you say it, it's ON the record. No misquotes, no pleading, no back-peddling.

Joe Morgan Signed by Reds as Special Advisor: What Does it Mean?

Joe Morgan, one of the Cincinnati Reds greatest players of all-time, is working with his former team again.

Morgan, 66, joined the Reds as a special adviser to baseball operations. The move was announced during a news conference at Great American Ball Park on Wednesday.

In a 22-season career from 1963-84, where he established himself as one of the best second basemen of all time, Morgan batted .271 with 268 home runs and 1,133 RBI. He was a 10-time All-Star (including eight straight with the Reds) and a five-time Gold Glove Award winner.

Jackie MacMullan fake Twitter Account Removed

Twitter is known for having fake accounts for athletes and famous movie stars and singers. But now it's reached a new level particular to people who honestly have nothing better else to do.

Silent No More: A Declaration for the Forgotten MLB Teams

I try to keep it to myself.  I try to just let it slide.  I try to just move on and say, "They will do better next time."

Unfortunately, they never do better.

I'm tired of the larger sports media outlets simply getting things wrong when publishing "top" lists.

When I say "wrong," I mean completely ridiculous and not even arguable.  It is one thing to post an opinion that is arguable, but it is another thing to post it when it is just plain wrong and conveniently focused on one part of the country.

JC's Department Of Painfully Obvious: Barry Bonds Future and NHL On ESPN

The agent for Barry Bonds —seen here in his current uniform and looking over his shoulder at the wreckage left in his wake—conceded today the playing days of the steroid-tainted slugger are over.

It would appear the fact every team has rebuffed the attempts of Jeff Borris to land Bonds on a Major League roster for the last two years has finally served to open his eyes and allow for reading the message not written, but chiseled, into the wall.

Baseball has no appetite for Barry Lamar Bonds.

The Great Peter Gammons Leaving ESPN

It’s a sad day for baseball fans everywhere.

The great Peter Gammons is leaving ESPN.

Peter Gammons Retiring from ESPN

Hall of Fame journalist Peter Gammons announced earlier today that he is leaving the ESPN network at the conclusion of the 2009 Winter Baseball Meetings:

"My decision to leave ESPN and move on at this point in my life has been conflicted. I owe a great deal of my professional life to ESPN, having spent more than half of my 40 years in journalism working for the network, and the choice to move on was made with nothing but the strongest feelings for the people with whom I worked. ESPN gave me a great deal more than I gave it, and will always be a huge part of who I am.
