Fantasy Baseball Around the Majors: June 11: Lincecum, Santana & More

Carlos Santana made his much anticipated debut and Tim Lincecum has appeared to have righted the ship. Francisco Liriano stole the show, despite Ubaldo Jimenez getting win #12. Let’s look at these stories and all the rest from yesterday’s games:

Rounding The Bases: June 11th MLB Rundown

Another day, another big time prospect comes to the majors.  Today it is Carlos Santana of the Cleveland Indians who was perhaps the best hitting prospect left down in the farm.  I wont start gushing too much about him, you will have to read the article to see the rest.  There is some injury news on one of the best players in the game, and also some of the more interesting pitchers of the night.

Fantasy Baseball Around the Majors, June 10: Phillips, Lester and More

Brandon Phillips continued his torrid streak.  Brett Cecil, Jonathan Niese, Jake Arrieta, and Trevor Cahill were among the young starters who impressed.  Justin Smoak is quietly heating up.  Let’s look at these stories and all the rest from yesterday’s games:

Fantasy Baseball Scouting Report: Brett Gardner

There certainly were conflicting theories about Brett Gardner as we headed into 2010.  Some people thought he could mature into an everyday player for the Yankees, including being a tremendous source of stolen bases.  Others thought that he would be exposed by major league pitching with regular playing time.  Thus far, those who b

Here’s a look at the unheralded players who played well yesterday.

Fantasy Baseball Around the Majors, June 9: Kershaw, Wainwright and More

Clayton Kershaw defeated Adam Wainwright.  The Pirates’ Jose Tabata and Brad Lincoln made their major league debuts to mixed results.  Is Delmon Young actually living up to the promise?  Let’s look at these stories and all the rest from yesterday’s games:

Fantasy Baseball Scouting Report: Brad Lincoln

Let’s face it—the Pirates are a bad team. Just look at the numbers of their pitching staff, and you cannot help but cringe.

A team ERA of 5.27 is awfully telling, as they have maybe two or three usable pitchers for fantasy owners.

Help may be on the way. Top prospect Brad Lincoln has been tearing up Triple-A, earning him a recall to start tonight against the Nationals. Just look at his production:

Six Wins
68.1 Innings
3.16 ERA
1.00 WHIP
55 Strikeouts (7.3 K/9)
14 Walks (1.9 BB/9)
.255 BABIP

Just because you’ve slipped behind in the Stolen Base category doesn’t mean you can’t catch up.  Here are some reasonably available SB threats.

Aroldis Chapman: Updating His 2010 Fantasy Baseball Potential

Aroldis Chapman is one of the most talked about prospects in baseball, though it is becoming increasingly questionable if he will make a fantasy impact in 2010.

He’s shown some good and some bad during his time at Triple-A, but the one constant has been struggles with his control (which many feared before he signed).  Let’s take a look at his numbers thus far:

5 Wins
54.2 Innings
4.45 ERA
1.59 WHIP
61 Strikeouts (10.2 K/9)
34 Walks (5.7 BB/9)
.339 BABIP

What's Wrong With Aramis Ramirez?

While waiver wire gems such as Jose Bautista (18 HRs, 45 RBI) and Carlos Silva (8 wins, 2.93 ERA) are unexpectedly dominating fantasy leagues, perennial All-Stars such as Mark Teixeira (.211 BA) and
