Fantasy Baseball Closer Report: Week Two

Grade A

David Aardsma, Mariners

Aardsma should be considered in the same class as the elite closers. With this being said, we need to see how he reacts after he gives up some runs and blows a save. Aardsma had two saves during the week and still has yet to give up a run. He deserves the top spot.

Matt Lindstrom, Astros

Fantasy Baseball Box Score Breakouts: April 22, 2010

Here’s a look at some unheralded players who played well yesterday.

Randy Wolf, Milwaukee Brewers

Wolf threw six scoreless innings as the Brewers pounded the Pirates. He improved to 2-1 with a 3.70 ERA.

Fantasy Baseball Around the Majors for April 22: Jimenez, Fielder & More

The Brewers' offense had a huge day. Ubaldo Jimenez continues to look like the best pitcher in the game. Jay Bruce is waking up. Let’s look at these stories and all the rest from yesterday’s games:

Rounding The Bases: April 22 - Welcome Justin Smoak!

The Rangers have finally lost their patience with first baseman Chris Davis for the second straight season and have called up super prospect Justin Smoak .

Smoak will start immediately and unless he pulls a “Chris Davis” and strikes out like it is going out of style, he should be here to stay.

A former first round pick, Smoak’s best traits are his fantastic plate discipline and his eye-popping power.

Fantasy Baseball: Early Buy Low Candidates

It’s never too early to hit up a struggling owner in your league to try to fleece him or her out of a struggling player to help your team down the road. Here are some guys to target.

Down To The Wire: Ride The Guillen Hot Streak

The first two weeks of fantasy baseball have been wild so far and there are plenty of waiver-wire players that can help you for the near future. This is the time of year when fantasy owners panic and drop guys off to slow starts.

Already in a few leagues, I have seen the likes of Carlos Lee, Hunter Pence, Brandon Webb and numerous others dropped like flies because they were off to slow starts.

2010 Fantasy Baseball: Week Two Major Slump Report

It’s the end of the second week of the 2010 Major League Baseball season.

Production this week was near empty for these sluggers. Each of them is desperately trying to find a repairman for his mechanics.

1) OF Colby Rasmus, STL

The Cardinal outfielder has been suffering. Hitless in his last 15 plate appearances, Rasmus could only provide a single walk to help his team this week.

Rasmus had a .000 AVG this past week, which dropped his season total to .179 AVG.

MLB Fantasy Power Rankings: Week Two

1.(↔) Minnesota Twins (9-4): The Twins continue to look impressive holding the top spot for the first two weeks of the season. If this were the MLB power rankings I would have them right behind the Yanks and Phils. These gentleman can do it all posting 123 and 125 points offensively and pitching wise respectively.

Fantasy Baseball Box Score Breakouts – 4/20/10

Here’s a look at the unheralded players who played well yesterday.

Cristian Guzman, Washington Nationals
This cat just keeps on hitting. He went 4 for 5 with a run and an RBI. The move to second didn’t affect his hitting. His average is .362.

Rounding The Bases: April 20th

Cliff Lee has had his five game suspension rescinded after somehow his argument that his spring injuries caused his pitch to be at Chris Snyder and not the fact that he was throwing at him.  I think that this is a ridiculous argument, but hey it worked.  So, sometime in May when Lee is ready to return he won’t miss another start due to suspension.
