Fantasy Baseball 1st Round Analysis: Does David Wright Deserve a Top-12 Ranking?

The past few seasons have certainly been a roller-coaster ride for David Wright, haven’t they?

After hitting .302 with 33 HR, 124 RBI, 115 R and 15 SB in 2008 it appeared that Wright was on the verge of becoming one of the elite players in the game. How many players could possibly match that type of production? You can count them on one hand.

However, the bottom fell out in 2009 as the Mets moved into Citi Field and were sabotaged by injuries.

2011 Fantasy Baseball Projections: Shaun Marcum & Aaron Hill "Finding the Mean"

Numbers.  Fantasy Baseball is defined by them.  Standard 5x5 leagues use 10 of them.  These 10 numbers are probably the most important numbers you will think about from March to September.  But should they be?

Fantasy Baseball has come quite a ways in the last few years.  Nowadays sabermetrics have given us new numbers with acronyms like wOBA, BABIP, xFIP, and LOB percent.  These strange figures can be overwhelming to those who are unfamiliar with them.

Fantasy Baseball Player Profile: Which Yadier Molina Will Show Up?

Yadier Molina was a tale of two players last year. In the first half of the season, he hit .223/.301/.294. In the second half, he hit .315/.368/.405. His end of the season splits ended up at .262/.329/.342. The big question arises. Which Molina will show up this year?

In the first half of last season, he was practically unusable. In the second half, he was a pretty solid option at catcher.

Fantasy Baseball Top 15 Shortstops for 2011

There has been very little movement among shortstops in recent weeks, but that doesn’t mean that there is little to talk about.  Who should we target?  Who should we pass on?  Let’s take a look at how my rankings currently look as we get close to draft day:

2011 Fantasy Baseball Preview: 7 Stats You Need To Know To Win Your League

Anyone who tells you that luck doesn't play a big role in baseball is either lying or joking.

A pitcher who induces a weak grounder up the middle doesn't become any worse if it passes undeterred to Derek Jeter's left. Nor is the slugger who smashes a deep fly ball into the gap any less talented because Franklin "Death to Flying Things" Gutierrez makes an amazing diving catch.

The eternal question is: How can we differentiate between luck and skill in baseball?

With 34 stolen bases in 183 games, it would be reasonable to believe that Julio Borbon would be a good source for stolen bases in 2011.

Here’s an early look at the N.L. only 2011 shortstop rankings.

1. Troy Tulowitzki, Colorado Rockies: It’s really a toss-up between Tulo and HanRam. They are both five-category players. I prefer Tulo because of his ballpark and lineup.

Fantasy Baseball 2011 Projection: Is Brandon Phillips Still an Elite 2B?

At one time Brandon Phillips was considered among the cream of the crop of second basemen.  In 2007 he posted his only career 30/30 campaign.  In the two subsequent seasons he followed it up with 20/20 years, clearly keeping him among the elite at his position.

The 2010 season, however, saw him return to the leadoff spot to mixed results:
