Sanchez can be a good backup 1st baseman in most leagues, putting up respectable numbers, .302/.366/.470. After a hot June where he batted .375, Sanchez has cooled down in July.

It’s time to check in on three more prospects from around the minor leagues.  Are any of them primed to make an impact in the not too distant future?  Let’s take a look (all stats are through Saturday):

The Los Angels Angels made a huge splash, answering the Texas Rangers acquisition of Cliff Lee by trading Joe Saunders, Patrick Corbin, Rafael Rodriguez, and a player to be named later to the Arizona Diamondbacks in return for Dan Haren, according to Andrew Baggarly of the Mercury News via Twitter.

It’s time to look at the potential two-start options for the upcoming fantasy week.  If I have someone rated as a three-, four-, or five-star option, he is someone I would definitely use.  A two-star option is someone who is borderline, but I’d strongly lean against it unless I have no other options.  The one-star opti

The first base position in fantasy baseball produces a lot of depth from owners to choose from either via their drafts back in March, or a waiver wire pick-up during the season. With the second half of play underway, let's take a look at how the first basemen will finish out the season.

And we’re back. Hopefully the short week didn’t treat you too badly. Good to see the NL finally win an All-Star game, couldn’t believe it has been 14 years since their last win.

But now we get move to one of the most fun parts of the baseball season: the trade deadline.

The waiver wire suddenly gets a big boost in activity as people jump on players who suddenly have value due to the transactions of playoff hopefuls and surrender monkeys.

Both Carlos Santana and Buster Posey have paid immediate dividends for fantasy owners and have made an impact on our early 2011 rankings.  Let’s take a look at how things currently stand (remember, this an extremely early ranking and may change significantly as the season progresses):
