Giants Vs. Padres Wednesday Night In Game Blog

The Giants went 1-2-3 in the first inning. The Padres are up now and Scott Hairston is on base thanks to a walk by starter Jonathan Sanchez.

Sanchez has looked great so far and has struck out two of the first three batters.

Chad Gaudin is starting for the Padres. Last night the Giants made Padres' starter Chris Young look like Cy Young so let's see if Gaudin can do his own impersonation of Cy Young tonight as well.

D-Train Almost Flawless in Detroit Debut

While most of Detroit's eyes were on the Red Wings-Blackhawks Western Conference Finals game, there was another significant event within a mile of Joe Louis Arena.

A moment many Tiger fans thought they would never see occurred Tuesday night when Dontrelle Willis picked up his first win in a Detroit uniform, shutting out the Texas Rangers through 6-1/3 innings in their 4-0 victory.

Streaking Yanks Roll Over O's, Capture Seventh Straight Win

Winning their last six games, the New York Yankees crushed the Baltimore Orioles by a score of 9-1 on Tuesday night, rolling their winning streak over to seven games.

Down 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Alex Rodriguez delivered a 439 foot, two-run homer over the Orioles’ bullpen in left field, giving the Yanks a 2-1 edge. For Rodriguez, it was his fourth home run in as many games.

Rain Saves D'Backs From Loss Again

The rain is starting to become the Arizona Diamondbacks best opponent. Count that now as three straight game days without a loss. They have now been rained out two days in a row. I suppose that’s one way to avoid more losses. You know, eventually a sunny day or a roof will find them and unfortunately they will have to go out and play nine.

Phillies Complete Four-Game Sweep Of Nats, Improve to Four Above .500

After a rough 5-8 stretch, the Philadelphia Phillies ran into the right team at the right time. After playing the Mets, Cardinals, Braves, and Dodgers, the Washington Nationals were just what a slumping team needed.

Jimmy Rollins, who came into Saturday with a .199 average, improved his average to .222 by accumulating seven hits in the series.

Chase Utley, who hit .342 in the month of April, is hitting .195 thus far in May and is now hitting .291 overall. Oddly enough, the downfall in Utley's average began the day after he sat out a May 5 game against the Cardinals.

Wright and Beltran Lead Mets to Win the First West Coast Series

The Mets are going for a four-game sweep of the San Francisco Giants tonight with Mike Pelfrey being opposed by Matt Cain.

It certainly has been an eventful week for the Mets who have seen Carlos Delgado put on the DL yesterday, which puts a strain on the remainder of the middle lineup as well as a need for a first baseman.

Jose Reyes has not played since Wednesday afternoon with a stiff calf muscle that started in New York but was made worse by the cross-country trip on Wednesday evening.

Blue Jays-White Sox: Roy Halladay Earns Eighth Victory In 8-2 Win

Roy Halladay earned his league leading eighth victory this afternoon in a 8-2 victory over the Chicago White Sox, putting the Jays up 3-0 in the four-game set.

The game did not start off well for Halladay, as he gave up a double to speedy leadoff hitter Scott Podsednik and was down 2-0 before the Jays were even allowed to hit.

The Jays were able to get a run back in their half of the first when Alex Rios deposited a high fastball into the left field seats for his fifth home run of the season.

Dodgers-Marlins: LA Romps Florida; Kershaw Takes No-Hit Bid Into Eighth

Clayton Kershaw was wild on Sunday. At times, he struggled with his control and had thrown over 100 pitches by the eight inning. Yet, after seven innings, he still had not allowed a hit.

While not having the best contro,l Kershaw still pitched an effective game. So effective that many at LandShark Stadium were preparing to witness history.

Catching a Ball at the New Yankee Stadium

DSCN2510

I’ve been waiting the past few years to see the new Yankee Stadium. And I’ve been waiting a lot longer—a lifetime—to catch a ball at a game.
