I heard it best on the A's post-game show with Chris Townsend. You could not have asked for a better script. Dallas Braden, surrounded by friends, family and his community of Stockton, Calif., pitched MLB's 19th perfect game ever on Sunday, May 9, 2010.

Coming into Saturday night's contest between Milwaukee and Arizona, outfielder Jody Gerut had only four hits on the year.

Gerut matched his season with four hits in the Brewers' 17-3 rout of Arizona.

And they weren't just any four hits.

With a single, double, triple, and home run, Gerut became just the sixth player in Brewers history to hit for the cycle.

The outfielder, who had made only four starts all season, definitely earned himself a spot in Sunday's game.

"It's going to be tough not to put him in the lineup," said Brewers manager, Ken Macha.

For those not familiar with Trey Hillman's in-game management genius, let me lay it out for you in bullet points:

Okay, it's only one game. I get that.

And, as Cubs fans, we tend to go overboard in our hype of Cubs' players, especially ones from our own farm system.

It is with this in mind that I cautiously state the following:

Retire his number now.

Look, just give Starlin Castro the Wayne Gretzky treatment and don't make him wait the traditional five years.

Put the kid in the Hall of Fame now.

Jamie Moyer, at 47 years old, became the oldest player in the history of baseball to pitch a complete game shutout, beating the Braves 7-0.

You think Boston had a bad day on Friday because the Red Sox, Bruins and Celtics lost? You think the two blow out losses at home is what really hurt?

You think not closing out a team and moving on to the conference finals is what everyone will remember?

Oh, those were just the tipping points. In fact, those heart-wrenching defeats actually triggered so much more.

At seven o’ clock this morning, Chicago Cubs top prospect Starlin Castro , a 20-year-old shortstop, received a call from the big club. His baseball life was about to change, and his dream was about to come true. He was told to travel to Cincinnati, where Chicago were to take on the Reds that afternoon, and did so giddily to find out he was in the starting lineup batting eighth.

Finally, it appears that the Chicago Cubs are willing to show some backbone in the dugout after the promotion of Class AA shortstop Starlin Castro to the Major League roster. Castro made his highly anticipated MLB debut on Friday—after a series sweep by the Pirates left the rotation gasping for run support. 

For the first time in four years, Ryan Theriot was moved over to second base to supplement the promotion of Castro. 

Things looked pretty bleak across Red Sox Nation just four days ago. The team had just been swept by the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards, and arrived in Boston prepared for a 10 game homestand against the Los Angeles Angels, New York Yankees, and Toronto Blue Jays. The team’s performance over the weekend was hapless and uninspired, and the abyss appeared to have no bottom.

And then the team held a players only meeting.
