Los Angeles Dodgers Roughed Up By Pittsburgh Pirates: Opening Day Disaster

Well, there are thousands of new skeptics-turned-experts out there. The controversy surrounding Torre's decision to tab Vicente Padilla as the Dodgers' Opening Day starter over the youngster Clayton Kershaw culminated in the struggle of Padilla to hit his spots in the early innings.

Fantasy Baseball Insiders Tonight 4/5: Braves' Jason Heyward Homers in MLB Debut

In case you missed the news, Monday night signaled the start of Fantasy Baseball Insiders’ journey to watch and score 162 games this season.

In addition to this, we’ll gather all of the fantasy-relevant info from every game each night and organize it in one post for your viewing pleasure. This will feature in-depth observations from our game of the day.

One in the Books: 2010 Milwaukee Brewers Opening Day Report

The new season is officially under way for the Milwaukee Brewers, and while they didn't come out of the day with a "W," they played some pretty good baseball in places.

The best performance of the day from someone in a Brewer uniform belonged to new center fielder Carlos Gomez.

He had four hits in five at-bats with a double, solo home run, stolen base, and two runs scored. Gomez also played well in center field to cap off a memorable Milwaukee debut.

NY Mets: The Hope That Springs Eternal On Opening Day

Today, opening day, the optimists ruled. The naysayers already have their rebuttals: "You had Santana pitching, you should have won. Now let's see what you've got".
Perhaps they are right.

Atlanta Braves' Jason Heyward Makes Memorable Debut on Opening Day

Some young baseball players that are hyped heading into the season do not make an immediate impact. Atlanta Braves rookie right-fielder, Jason Heyward, showed on Opening Day that he does not belong in that group with a magical debut against the Chicago Cubs .

He was phenomenal throughout the minor leagues and continued to put his array of talents on display in Spring Training. At 20-years old, he has the plate discipline and eye of a veteran. He can spray the ball to every part of the outfield, steal bases, and play a superb right-field.

He has it all.

White Sox-Indians: A Great Start To the South Side Season

South Side fans had a reason to be happy on this beautiful day in April.

The sun was shining, the weather was wonderful, and Mark Buehrle pitched seven strong innings in his record setting eighth opening day start for the Chicago White Sox, en route to a 6-0 victory.

In his first opening day victory since 2005, Buehrle had a solid pitching line, walking only one batter while striking out three, and giving up just three hits in his seven innings.

San Francisco-Houston: Giants Top Astros On Opening Day

It was not easy in the end, but the Giants could breathe a sigh of relief as they did not let their 5-0 lead in the ninth inning slip away completely.

Tim Lincecum cruised for the first seven innings, allowing only four hits and striking out seven. He did not walk one batter in the entire start, and even contributed offensively with two perfect sacrifice bunts.

Chicago Cubs Killed By Atlanta Braves: Relax, Cubs Fans, It's Only One Game

Even from the writer who told you that the Cubs' pitching is the teams' Achilles heel, I will not say "I told you so."

That's right, for even with the White Sox, who I picked to win the AL Central this year, they may have won easily but you won't hear any gloating.

Why? Repeat after me, IT'S ONLY ONE GAME.

I know, Carlos Zambrano was horrible and the defense was bad. Alfonso Soriano played as if he couldn't care less.

Five Notes To Make of the Philadelphia Phillies' Opening Day Victory

A tradition of Opening Day disappointment for the Philadelphia Phillies was nowhere to be found as perennial ace Roy Halladay took to the mound against the Washington Nationals Monday.

The former Cy Young Award winner dominated the lowly Nationals for most of the outing, with his only rough patch coming in the first inning. He allowed his only run in the first inning, then proceeded to throw six scoreless innings.

Rangers-Blue Jays: Texas Wins Opener in Walk-Off Behind Nelson Cruz's Big Day

I love baseball.

I love everything about it.  For as long as I can remember, baseball has been the one thing that I have consistently adored.

I am a big sports fan in general, but nothing gets my blood pumping like a good baseball game.

Today’s Rangers-Blue Jays game was just such a contest.

The beginning of the game was extremely disheartening for Rangers fans. Going in with such high expectations, it was really hard to see Scott Feldman give up two home runs early, and the offense be completely absent.
