MLB Mayday: 10 Stars Who Have Lost Their Way

It’s no secret that fans across the nation cringe at the sight of a poor performance from their team on a given night.

Often times, fans will use the excuse that it is still early in the year and these players and teams will turn it around.

The 2010 MLB season has offered up its fair share of great moments and performances from some of the league’s best; but as we head into mid-May, there is still some doubt amongst even the most faithful of fans that the following players will turn it around.

Should Mets' Jose Reyes Be Batting Leadoff Again?

Before Jose Reyes' thyroid problem, it looked like he was going to be the No. 3 hitter on Opening Day.  His thyroid set him back, but when he returned, the question came up again.

The only reason the Mets even considered batting Reyes third is because Carlos Beltran is injured.  With Beltran gone, the Mets lineup could use some more depth.

Manager Jerry Manuel decided to stretch out the lineup, and put Reyes at the three-spot.  He had played 591 straight games in the leadoff spot.

Mets fans were split on the decision to bat Reyes third.

Why Does Carlos Beltran Get Such a Bad Rap?

News about Carlos Beltran’s new knee brace just adds to the confusing injury saga that leaves Mets’ fans with dozens of questions.

I spent some time today scrawling through comment sections about Carlos Beltran and I can’t help wondering, what is it about Beltran that is so polarizing?

Power Rankings: The Top 10 Most Spectacular Defensive Shortstops

As the famous phrase goes, “Chicks dig the long ball.”

While that may be very true, what’s most often overlooked in the game of baseball is overall spectacular defense.

The most noteworthy defensive plays are often made by the athletic and talented shortstops of the game, which feature some of the best range in the field, combining their skillset to make diving plays, backhanded stops or the ever-so-famous jump and throw maneuver.

So who are the most spectacular and flashy of the shortstops in today’s game?

Humor: Feds Question Mets SS Reyes about Bogus Spanish Academy

New York Mets' 20-Inning Marathon Win: Pitching Staff Not Bad!

Who would have thought that the New York Mets pitching staff would be the strongest part of the team, while the hitting staff would be the weakest?

Saturday, April 17 against the St. Louis Cardinals, the Mets hitting staff was shut down until the top of the 19th inning when Jose Reyes scored a run on a sacrifice fly against a position player converted to pitcher during the game. All regular relievers were already used up in the Cardinals bullpen, and the only pitchers available were starters.

New York Mets: That's Offensive

Originally posted on Midwestropolitan .

Early in Saturday's game, which I believe lasted about 48 hours, Jerry Manuel was interviewed by Tim McCarver and Kenny Albert.  Manuel stated that the Mets have been competitive in most of their games and if they continue to do so, things should even out.

I actually agree with Jerry somewhat.  They haven't seemed over-matched in any series so far.  Two of their seven losses have gone into extra innings.
