A Voice of Reason: The Alberto Callaspo Trade Rumors

Sunday night, Bob Dutton reported that the Royals are rumored to be interested in shipping Alberto Callaspo to the Los Angeles Dodgers for 28-year-old (29 in April) catcher A.J. Ellis.  Seeing as though Ellis has worked his way up to a grand total of 13 plate appearances in two September call-ups at that advanced an age, it is hard to get overly excited about the prospect of this deal.

New Faces, New Places: What the Future Holds for the Kansas City Royals

It wasn’t a matter of if, but more when. Some expected this last off-season and most expected it this off-season. Mark Teahen is officially no longer a Royal, now a rival as a part of the White Sox. Some may not be happy Teahen is gone because he was a valuable player, but Teahen’s impact will still be felt in numerous ways.

Mark Teahen To White Sox? A Rumor That Would Be Beneficial To All

In a town where winning is rare, player character is one element fans focus too much attention on.

For what it's worth, though, Mark Teahen is a model citizen and a pleasure to be around.

So was Allard Baird and he set the Royals back years by neglecting the farm system and encouraging incompetent scouting.

Both of these individuals were in over their heads due to the positions they were put into by this franchise.

A Restless Kansas City Royals Ramble

As Royals fans, we have very little to talk about right now.

Hell, most of us checked out sometime in June when it had become more than clear that the fast start was a mirage and that the air of respectability we thought was going to accompany the Royals resurgence had been knocked from our lungs.

Kansas City's Poor Year Due to Shabby Trade and Broke Bats, Not Injury Wealth

Over the past few months, we have been treated to a number of interestingcomments from within the Royals' organization.   The team's best hitter, Billy Butler, has been publicly criticized for a perceived lack of proficiency in turning the rare 3-6-3 double play.

The General Manager has said, outloud mind you, that he neither understands nor believes in any of the current defensive statistical measures.

Ernie Harwell to be Honored

The Tigers will honor legendary broadcaster, Ernie Harwell on Wednesday night at Comerica Park. If I could have attended any regular season game all season this would have been the one. Harwell will sit in owner Mike Illitch’s suite for the game against the Kansas City Royals.

Another Greinke Start, Another Royals Letdown

Honestly, this article could write itself after almost any Greinke non-win this season.

The awful team on the field behind him finds a way to squander another Greinke gem.

Two hits and no runs allowed through six are proven to be immaterial, as the hapless Royals strand runners, ground into double plays, fall astray on the basepaths, and subvert his best efforts on defense.

Dayton Moore's Defining Moment

To the national media, the Royals' trade for Yuniesky Betancourt was a somewhat minor transaction:  partly because of the two cities involved and partly because of the players involved. To those of us who doggedly follow the Royals, however, this trade was a big, big deal, and one that was almost universally disparaged.

Where Would Teahen Fit In Boston?

Rumors have been swirling around Kansas City Royals infielder Mark Teahen, with most of them seem to have Teahen going to the Boston Red Sox.

Teahen could fill the third base role vacated by the recently injured Mike Lowell. Kevin Youkilis has moved across the diamond to his natural position of third, with Jeff Bailey and Mark Kotsay platooning at first.

If Lowell's laid up for an extended amount of time, Teahen can play both first and third, and provide a decent bat in the lineup. And when Lowell does return from his hip injury, Teahen would be a great bat off the bench.

Kansas City Royals at the Breaking Point?

After de-internetting myself for the past two weeks, I get to come back to this.
