CC Sabathia Beats Horacio Ramirez in Battle of No. 52s

Now we can say the Yankees are officially on a roll. Their 6-1 win over the Royals last night marked their third straight. Fans saw a completely different CC Sabathia compared to his opening day start.

And in my mind, I think fans saw the real CC last night. The Yankees were playing a perfect ballgame until the ninth inning when the Royals finally squeaked out their lone run, but let’s see how they built that lead.

Royals' Prospect Kila Ka'aihue Continues To Hit In Omaha

Kila Ka'aihue, while his name is hard to pronounce, is a very promising young player in the Kansas City Royals' organization.

Ka'aihue had a magnificent year in '08 when he hit 37 homers with a .314 average and 100 RBI.

He then found himself in the big leagues in September where he hit his first major league home run.

This spring some thought maybe Kila could make the big league team. But with a log-jam at first, he was sent down to Omaha. Some guys in Kila's situation might pout and see his numbers drop, but not Kila.

Andy was Dandy today

The New York Yankees defeated the Kansas City Royals today by the score of 4-1. Andy Pettitte was just dominant pitching 7 innings giving up 3 hits, 1 of which should of been an error, 1 run, 1 walk and 6 strikeouts. Brian Bruney pitched a 1-2-3 8th inning with 2 strikeouts and Mo got the save in the 9th only giving up a infield single with a strikeout. The Yankees bullpen over the last 3 games has pitched 10 innings giving up a infield single, 0 runs and 12 strikeouts. I think what seperates the Yankees is what you saw today, did Andy Pettitte look like a #4 starter to you??

Royals' Mascot Creeps Me Out and Other Assessments Made During Opening Day

First and foremost, Jose Guillen is a big baby.  He's on the disabled list (surprise, surprise) three days into the season.  And with a hip injury, no less.  What does he think he is, an 84-year-old man?

Frank White has never been to Disney World.  Today he said being out at the newly renovated "K" was "like being at Disney World with so much to look at, so much to do."  What kind of imitation Disney World has this guy been going to?

N.Y. Yankees, Andy Pettitte Beat Royals 4-1

It took them longer than some hoped, but the Yankees got their first win of the season behind A.J. Burnett last night.

Today they hope to keep that going with veteran lefty Andy Pettitte on the mound, who is going up against former Yankee Sidney Ponson.

Here are their numbers from last season:

Pettitte 14-14, 4.54 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, 158 K’s, 55 BB’s, 204 innings.

Kansas City Royals Fans: Frustration Begins on Opening Day

And so it begins.

Already, Kansas City Royals fans have been dealt an early season blow by one of the players acquired in the offseason that was meant to bring depth to the Royals' bullpen.

It was one of the bright spots last year, often even cleaning up messes left by starters.

Gil Meche, the $55-million man pitched seven great innings. He struck out six, gave up seven hits, and walked zero.

Kansas City Royals: Recipe For an AL Central Division Championship Year

The Detroit Tigers of '06, the Tampa Bay Rays of '08, and the world champion St. Louis Cardinals of '06 all had something in common, as you might already know.

They were all disregarded in the pre-season predictions, with nobody giving them a chance to win a division championship, let alone a World Series championship.

However, certain things that had to happen, did happen. In return, they were able to maximize on their potential, and in the process, proved all doubters wrong.

Kansas City Steamers: Royals May Rise in 2009

As the 2009 Major League Baseball season rapidly approaches and the second edition of the WBC fades into the rear-view mirror, it’s hard not to look across the league as a whole and notice a distinct alteration from, say, 2004 in regards to the depth and over-arching philosophy guiding the overseers of many low-profile organizations.

Inside a Kansas City Royals Fan's Head Before Opening Day

The fountains throughout Kansas City are just days away from water flowing through them again. The weather is beginning to warm, and hot, humid days that Kansas City summers are known for are right around the corner.

Opening Day in Kansas City is also known as "Greater Kansas City Day," and there's nothing quite like it.
