Only 10 percent of the population is left-handed. Despite a world against us (looking at you notebook spirals), being left-handed has its advantages. One place in particular is on the baseball field.

With spring training now at its peak and Cactus League play in full gear, the Los Angeles Dodgers find themselves in the national spotlight of the sports media in regards to a number of popular storylines.

Team ownership is obviously at the forefront, as Frank McCourt was anticipating a $200 million cash advance from Fox until the transaction was blocked by MLB commissioner Bud Selig late last week. It's unclear exactly where the overall finances of the club lie, but the fact that McCourt was involved in plotting such a deal doesn't sound encouraging.

Albert Pujols set a deadline to talk extension with the Cardinals, and they offered him less money than he wanted (reportedly in the $21 million per year range).

That's a lot of money, but being that he is the best player in the history of baseball he wanted more. I'm backing him especially after seeing the contracts that Jayson Werth and Carl Crawford got this offseason.

He deserves to be the highest paid player.

Let the record show, I am not a Dodgesr fan. In fact, I wouldn't hesitate to say I don't see any of the NL West teams being relevant in the playoffs. That being said, everyone raves about the Giants rotation, and it is awesome, but I had a "that can't be right" moment when I was researching the Dodgers rotation.

It is time people took notice of the most deceptive rotation in baseball.

Clayton Kershaw is not only quickly becoming the face of the Los Angeles Dodgers franchise, but he's also arguably on the fast track to being one of the premiere starters in all of baseball.

Among the larger criticisms of the Dodgers pitching staff is the lack of a true ace, however Kershaw's performance during his first full two years of service indicates that it's only a matter of time before he fills that void.

When thinking of pitching rotations with a lot of depth, the Phillies, Red Sox and Giants are—rightfully so—the first teams to come to mind. However, one could argue that the Los Angeles Dodgers rotation is underrated and belongs in that discussion.

Rafael Furcal opened the 2010 season on fire, hitting .333 with 51 R in 243 AB prior to the All-Star Break. 

Of course, as a consistent theme over the past few years, Furcal was limited to just 26 AB in May. Matters got even worse after the break, with just 140 AB including only seven in August. 

Injuries to his lower back and hamstring were the issues in 2010 and, considering his speed is one of his biggest assets, you have to be concerned.

After a very successful first four and a half years to start his major league career, Los Angeles Dodgers’ closer Jonathan Broxton had a miserable second half in 2010.

Broxton was an All-Star in 2010, putting up great first half numbers with an ERA of 2.11, as well as 19 saves in 21 chances.  

However, after the All-Star break Broxton proceeded to post an ERA of 7.13 with just three saves in eight opportunities, and Broxton had more walks than strikeouts.

Following in the footsteps of his father, Tom Gordon, 22-year-old Dee Gordon is currently on the fast track to play in the major leagues for one of baseball's highest profile teams, the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Gordon is currently ranked first on Baseball America as the Dodger's top prospect.

Widely considered as a tremendous hitter and fielder, Gordon may also be the best all-around athlete in the highly talented farm system.

In 2010, Matt Kemp had a -15 DRS. Before I define and explain, let me put in perspective, if only for shock value.

In 2010, Juan Rivera had a -8 DRS.

Yes, the same Juan Rivera who attacks fly balls with the same ferocity that Dodger fans chase beach balls with on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
