Pitcher Jeremy Guthrie Calls Marlon Byrd 'A Joke' Following 2nd PED Suspension

As much as baseball fans may get outraged when a hitter gets suspended for using performance-enhancing drugs, imagine how a (non-PED-using) pitcher feels.

Pitchers put in an incredible amount of work to develop their stuff and strike batters out. When an opponent tries to beat the system and takes PEDs, it makes a pitcher's job even tougher. And for pitchers without much job security, a home run here and there can see them reassigned to the minor leagues.

MLB Sets Record for Most Strikeouts in a Calendar Month

Those interested in massive offensive numbers, look away. MLB as a whole set a record in May for the most strikeouts in a calendar month, totaling 6,726 to best the previous record of 6,591 set in September 2015, per ESPN Stats & Info.

Cueto-Samardzija Stardom Gives Giants Vindication for Missing Out on Greinke

As any poker player will tell you, two aces are better than one.

Ask the San Francisco Giants, and they'll confirm as much.

MLB's Biggest Trade Chips 2 Months from the 2016 Deadline

It'd be easy to rattle off names like Jose Fernandez, Bryce Harper and Mike Trout as the biggest trade chips in baseball. It'd be just as easy to include top prospects like Washington's Lucas Giolito, Pittsburgh's Tyler Glasnow and Philadelphia's J.P. Crawford on the pages that follow.

But to do so would be pointless, for there's a better chance of Derek Jeter coming out of retirement than there is of any of those players getting moved anytime soon.

How 36-Year-Old MLB Journeyman Rich Hill Has Become a Potential All-Star

Rich Hill doesn't dwell on things that aren't important. Even if that means shrugging at his status as one of baseball's best pitchers and, in all probability, a likely first-time All-Star at the age of 36.

MLB Draft Big Board 2016: Bleacher Report's Complete Predraft Rankings

The 2016 MLB draft is now just one week away, with the first round set to begin on June 9.

The Philadelphia Phillies will be picking No. 1 overall, just the second time in franchise history they've held the top selection. It turned out pretty well last time, in 1998, when they grabbed University of Miami outfielder Pat Burrell.

This time around, there's no clear-cut player atop draft boards. Instead, there's a handful of guys who are all in the mix to go 1-1.

Are Cubs Deserving of Early 2016 All-Star Game Ballot Barrage?

The Chicago Cubs are the best team in baseball.

That's true on the stat sheet, where they lead the solar system with a plus-129 run differential. And it's true in the standings, where Chicago paces the National League Central, and every other team in every other division, with a 36-15 record.

So it stands to reason the Cubs would be well-represented in the 2016 MLB All-Star Game.

Ron Fowler, Padres Executive Chairman, Comments on Team's Performance
