As much as baseball fans may get outraged when a hitter gets suspended for using performance-enhancing drugs, imagine how a (non-PED-using) pitcher feels.

Pitchers put in an incredible amount of work to develop their stuff and strike batters out. When an opponent tries to beat the system and takes PEDs, it makes a pitcher's job even tougher. And for pitchers without much job security, a home run here and there can see them reassigned to the minor leagues.

Those interested in massive offensive numbers, look away. MLB as a whole set a record in May for the most strikeouts in a calendar month, totaling 6,726 to best the previous record of 6,591 set in September 2015, per ESPN Stats & Info.

As any poker player will tell you, two aces are better than one. 

Ask the San Francisco Giants, and they'll confirm as much.

The Atlanta Braves will be without their top utility man for at least the next two weeks, as Gordon Beckham was placed on the 15-day disabled list Thursday.

That's true on the stat sheet, where they lead the solar system with a plus-129 run differential. And it's true in the standings, where Chicago paces the National League Central, and every other team in every other division, with a 36-15 record.

So it stands to reason the Cubs would be well-represented in the 2016 MLB All-Star Game.

Hunter Pence's injury woes don't seem to be going away, as the San Francisco Giants outfielder is now battling a hamstring strain and has been placed on the disabled list. It is unclear when he will be able to return.
