The budding rivalry between the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers reached a new level of weird on Friday due to laser pointers and prearranged markers in the outfield. 

Toronto Blue Jays star shortstop Troy Tulowitzki was placed on the disabled list due to a quadriceps strain on Saturday, as the team announced. It's unclear when he will return.

At their core, sports provide us with a stage of competition. We typically associate that with the competition between two teams.

But it extends to teammates, too, vying for at-bats. And also to a competitor’s drive to chase a record. That was the case with Boston Red Sox outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr., who was pursuing Joe DiMaggio’s 56-game hitting streak.

Bradley fell short. The streak ended at 29 games, which again proved that DiMaggio’s hit streak is one of baseball’s toughest records to break.

Los Angeles Dodgers left-handed pitching phenom Julio Urias made his highly anticipated major league debut Friday night at Citi Field against the New York Mets. 

However, the 19-year-old's inaugural trip to the mound on the MLB stage didn't go as smoothly as the Dodgers would have liked in the 6-5 loss. Over the course of 2.2 innings, Urias allowed three earned runs and five hits while walking four batters and striking out three.

Two-time American League All-Star Clay Buchholz will be removed from the starting rotation and placed in the bullpen, Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell announced Friday, per NESN's Zack Cox.

Farrell said the move was necessary after Buchholz's poor start to the season, per Cox:

Major League Baseball has upheld Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista's one-game suspension for his role in a brawl with the Texas Rangers on May 15.   

Per Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca, MLB denied Bautista's appeal. He will sit out of Toronto's game against the Boston Red Sox on Friday night. 

Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Shelby Miller is reportedly heading to the 15-day disabled list because of a lingering finger injury.
