If You Hate the "Pink Hats," Stop By the Baseball Tavern

During the 86-year-old "Curse of the Bambino," Fenway Park was populated by die hard Red Sox fans who cared only about the product on the field. These fans did not need anything more than a Red Sox win to be entertained.

It was an era when most of the fans were men, men who drank beer, men who cursed, men who worked hard and wanted nothing more than a World Series.

Roy Halladay: Keep Your Pitch Hand Strong

<!--StartFragment-->

Johan Santana, CC Sabathia, Tim Lincemcum.

All three generally considered the best pitchers in the game. But with the Toronto Blue Jay’s major league best 23-12 record, we can finally put Roy Halladay into the true upper-echelon of starting pitchers.

Play the All-Star Game to Win the All-Star Game

Winning the All-Star Game recently became so unimportant, MLB Commissioner Bud Selig felt he had to do something.

Selig decided the league that wins the annual Summer Classic gets home field advantage in the World Series.

The All-Star Game is played purely to entertain.

However, there was a time when it was a baseball game that each league wanted to win just for the sake of winning.

It's OK To Say A Prayer For Dontrelle Willis Tonight

Tonight, a young man will step onto the mound at the Metrodome in Minneapolis and it’ll be amazing if he doesn’t sink into the dirt from the weight on his shoulders.

Dontrelle Willis isn’t just starting a baseball game tonight.

He’s trying to exorcise demons.

Willis hasn’t won a big league game since 2007. But it’s not just that he hasn’t won.

It’s how he hasn’t won.

Joe Girardi Does Not Have a Clue

I got home from work yesterday and thought I had a migraine headache.

I turned on YES to see what Mike Francesca was up to, and I knew that the headache was only about to begin.

Francesca was literally laughing at the Yankees starting lineup.

He was laughing! Gardner, Pena, Cabrera, and Cash! "Are you kidding me?" Francesca asked.

I thought there had to be some mistake.

The Yankees were coming into the game after an off day.

Shelley Duncan Deserves Pinstriped Resurrection, Matsui Needs Benching

The relentless and inescapable injury plague has been contracted by yet another pair of Yankees contributors.

It has begun to spread like a thick river of hot magma, waiting to devour and destroy anything still remaining in its path.

The NY Islanders, NY Yankees, and NY Mets: Same Market, Different Fortune

I went and took in a Yankee game on May 1. I could not help marvel at the new Yankee Stadium. The place is truly a sight to behold and a pleasure to watch a game in.

The Great Hall, The Yankee Museum, the sight lines, the concourse, the food, the access, the huge video board—it is just an amazing facility.

I think it is safe to say that the New York Yankees are the richest, most successful franchise in baseball and arguably in all of sports worldwide, with an estimated value of $1.5 billion.

Rangers-Mariners: Texas Cruises with Hamilton and Young's Return

This is a big week for the Rangers, make no mistake about that.  Texas comes into the week leading the AL West, but the Angels are only a half-game back and the Mariners 1.5 games back.  To help out the Rangers got Josh Hamilton back off the DL, and Michael Young returned to the lineup for the first time since last Friday (back spasm).
