The San Francisco Giants Must Captalize on Manny Ramirez's Absence

And so it seems another baseball great has fallen. Fallen to the inevitable black hole in the baseball universe called steroids.

Manny Ramirez is the latest player to fall to the allegations that he took steroids, and while I can go on and on about Mannywood or what the implications this has had on the game. I'm not going to, solely for the reason that this is an article about why this is an ample opportunity for the San Francisco Giants and the rest of the NL West to take advantage of a team blindsided by the recent controversial news.

Top Five: How To Fix The Yankees

Well, the fans and media that occupy Yankee-land have started to push the panic button.

After a two game sweep on Monday and Tuesday, the Yankees have now lost five in a row to the Boston Red Sox. Then after coming back from down three to the Rays on Wednesday, only to see that wasted by a Phil Coke fastball to Carlos Pena that went very far in the 10th, the Yankees last night saw the ultimate sign of the apocalypse.

With Manny, Nothing's Cut and Dry

I know, it doesn’t look good.

Manny tested positive for a banned substance and is not appealing the automatic 50-game suspension he received as a result.

The statement he issued was opaque and dodgy, which is not a surprise considering it was likely penned by Scott Boras.

The Mets Offense so Far in 2009

The Mets have an incredible lineup full of speedsters and sluggers, and in two cases, namely David Wright and Carlos Beltran, they have both speed and power as evidenced by both of them being members of the 30/30 club.

Jerry Manuel does little to change the lineup on any given day other than the pitcher and the catcher in the event of a day game following a night game.

The Top 15 First Basemen Since 1980 in Terms ff Overall Ability

This list is to cover the best first basemen since 1980, but it's also going to take out the misconception that the first basemen is just a power source and defensively it's OK that some of these players are defensive liabilities.

A Moment of Clarity Captured amidst a Topic of Shame at Yankee Stadium

Yet another domino fell in the ongoing defamation of baseball in this generation.  Add to the list of household names to be crucified for their actions now and forever, Manny Ramirez.

Manny is not the topic of this article, but his situation must be mentioned to really drive the point home. Manny now joins this generations group of baseball dunces, and sure the baseball community is shocked, but really how shocked are they at this point?

Canseco has been trying to tell us for years.

Beleaguered Cincinnati Reds Take on the St. Louis Cards

The Cincinnati Reds will play host this weekend to the St. Louis Cardinals, who presently sit atop the NL Central standings. The Cards will throw Joel Pinero (4-1, 3.24) against the Reds’ young fireballer Johnny Cueto (2-1, 1.65).

The Reds will once again rely on a patchwork lineup, as Joey Votto and Brandon Phillips are still out due to sickness. They will play their third straight game, without the benefit, I think he’s a benefit, right,of starting short stop Alex Gonzalez.
