From the reloaded Chicago Cubs to the restocked San Francisco Giants, there's no shortage of teams who have gone big during the MLB offseason.

Now that the hype machine is in full swing, it's time to look back at the winter and predict which club's offseason activity will translate to regular (and post) season success.

The first step was to scan the entire league to single out the franchises who have moved the most aggressively since the close of the 2016 campaign.

Michael Rae Papayans of Palos Verdes, California, was charged with felony assault Thursday for an alleged October 2015 incident at Dodger Stadium.  

According to the Associated Press (h/t ESPN.com), Papayans is accused of punching a 50-year-old man who was wearing New York Mets gear following an Oct. 9 NLDS Game 1 playoff clash between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Mets.

The 2015 Major League Baseball rookie class was one of the best in recent memory. Good for them, but tough luck for the 2016 rookie class. Not an easy act to follow that.

And for some rookies in particular, the pressure to follow that act begins right away.

The New York Yankees have the right idea. The bigger question is whether they have the right players.

The Yankees are trying to rebuild without rebuilding, to get younger and better without coming close to any charge of tanking a season. The process is difficult enough that they haven't won a playoff game since 2012 but so far painless enough that they've stayed in the 84-87 win zone that at least guarantees some form of contention.

It was a long, grueling stretch of nearly four months without baseball, but those days are finally behind us.

Los Angeles Angels first baseman Albert Pujols is recovering from offseason foot surgery, leaving his status for the start of the 2016 MLB campaign in jeopardy.

The Pittsburgh Pirates are going back to their roots in 2016.

On Thursday, the team announced it would wear throwback uniforms from 1979 for Sunday games.

The pillbox hat features three stripes, the jersey is a pullover V-neck and the pants are "beltless" with gold lining.

According to Fox Sports' Jon Morosi on Thursday, the Arizona Diamondbacks have extended the contract of manager Chip Hale through "at least" the 2017 season. 

Veteran utility infielder Nick Punto has decided to call it a career after playing 14 Major League Baseball seasons with six teams. 

Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports confirmed Punto's decision to walk away after he sat out the 2015 season.
