WBC Semifinal: USA v. Japan Live Blog Notice

Just to let everyone know, we're going to be doing a live blog of tonight's World Baseball Classic match up between the United States and Japan. The game begins at 8:00 eastern and we'll begin our coverage at 7:30. We heavily encourage our Bleacher Report readers to head on over to our main site, www.sixtyftsixin.com and join us in discussion and the drama of this game. Hope to have you there with us.

Do the New York Yanks Have a Brighter Future With or Without Derek Jeter?

This has been discussed several times before during this offseason, including on this blog, and if you ask me this is a tough call. But let's look at what someone else had to say. Tyler Hissey over at Dugout Central posted this article today and he thinks the Yanks would be better off letting Jeter walk after his contract runs out in 2010.

The Fickle Nature Of New York Yankee Fans

After reading a recent blog post by Greg over at Sliding Into Home, contrasting recent quotes by Randy Johnson and Jason Giambi, we feel the need to get something off our chest.

All you need to know about our bone of contention is that Yankee fans have happy memories of Jason Giambi's ringless time in Pinstripes, but rue the day that Randy Johnson toed the rubber at the "House That Ruth Built."

2009 Fantasy Baseball: Top 20 Outfielders, Updated

Now that we're just two weeks away from Opening Day, I thought it would be a good time to do some updating to my rankings. With additional research, free agent signings, and injuries, some significant changes have occurred. Here are the top 20 outfielders as of today (to view the original rankings, click here):

Bringing Baseball Back to Life, and Why MLB Should Die

If you're not watching the World Baseball Classic, you're missing what real baseball is like.

Where men become boys again, giving all they have to win the game because...they want to win.

2009 MLB Predictions: AL East

Last year I made a bet with a friend of mine about Major League Baseball.

The bet was: Who could more accurately predict the 2008 Major League Baseball season's final standings, league champions, and World Series winner?

Expert Fantasy Baseball Draft Strategy Rounds 15-21

We continue our pick-by-pick coverage for the KFFL K-FAD Expert League Draft. To recap, the league is your standard roster (2 catchers, 5 OF) 5x5 rotisserie 12-team league. I get the chance to represent Fantasy Baseball Search to play against some of the toughest competitors and expert minds in the industry.

The third segment of the KFFL K-BAD expert league draft went much better then the second segment for my team. I was able to draft all the players I needed and wanted, plus thanks to this being an email draft I was able to discover some fantastic steals.

Could Kevin Slowey Be the Minnesota Twins' Ace in the Hole?

Ask casual fans of the Minnesota Twins who their best starting pitcher is and they'll probably answer Francisco Liriano.

No surprise here, the dynamic lefty captured imaginations with a dominating 2006 before losing all of 2007 to Tommy John surgery and spending most of 2008 at AAA Rochester.

This, of course, doesn't mean they are wrong. Liriano is a horse, no doubt, but whether he can recapture even part of his 2006 form remains to be seen.

Ten Predictions for the 2009 MLB Season

If you are like me, you cannot wait until opening day. The anticipation has been building since Brad Lidge whiffed Rocco Baldelli to wrap up the World Series. One can't help but to wonder what the 2009 season has in store for all of us. I am sure that there will be many incredible feats, wacky plays, and even an improbable playoff run. Here are ten things that the 2009 MLB season will bring us.
