As the MLB free-agent market continues to play out, shortstop Alexei Ramirez finds himself starting to generate interest from clubs.   

Per Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com, citing Bruce Levine of 670 The Score in Chicago, the San Diego Padres are "still talking" with Ramirez about a possible deal.

There was a time when it was tough for young players to rise to All-Star status, but that time is long gone. The 2015 season saw a record 20 players ages 25 and under earn All-Star nods, and it doesn't take much to guess there's more where that came from.

So that's what we're going to do.

With the 2016 season fast approaching, let's look at eight prospects who figure to be All-Stars sometime in the next three years. These aren't the only prospects who have All-Star potential, mind you, but they look like the best bets based on three things:

With a little over a month to go until the start of spring training, we've reached the point of the offseason where things are typically kind of boring.

While those unemployed sluggers dominate the conversation, there's also room for some talk about a retired masher and a former ace whose Hall of Fame credentials are in the headlines.

Denard Span isn't Yoenis Cespedes or Justin Upton. So if you were a San Francisco Giants fan hoping for another top-shelf addition in what has been a splashy offseason, perhaps Span's signing—first reported by CBS Sports' Jon Heyman—leaves you feeling underwhelmed. 

The San Francisco Giants announced Thursday they signed free-agent center fielder Denard Span. 

According to Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area, the deal is worth $31 million over three years.
