Young resurrected his career this past season in the Bronx after poor stints with the New York Mets and the Oakland Athletics, and teams in need of outfield help have taken notice.

The baseball universe has descended on sunny Boca Raton, Florida, for the annual general manager meetings and official start of the hot stove league. Agents, general managers and, quite likely, a smattering of players are making the rounds and laying the groundwork for deals down the road.

The window to win almost always closes quicker than you think it will, and it will close on the Kansas City Royals soon enough.

The Royals pushed into win-now mode when they made their much-debated (at the time) trade for James Shields and Wade Davis three winters ago. They pushed all-in when they traded prospects for a pair of rental players this past July.

Former Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Tommy Hanson has died at the age of 29.

Mark Bowman of MLB.com passed along the tragic news Tuesday morning: "A Braves representative confirmed that some of Hanson's former teammates were near Hanson when he passed away at Atlanta's Piedmont Hospital late Monday night."

Colorado Rockies shortstop Jose Reyes was arrested Oct. 31 in Hawaii on charges of domestic violence, per Chelsea Davis of Hawaii News Now.

Every Major League Baseball player has his eyes firmly on the World Series at the start of the season, but receiving recognition from your peers is a solid consolation prize.

The MLB Players Choice Awards started in 1992 and annually recognize players for their excellence on and off the field. The players, rather than the media voters who determine awards such as the Cy Young and MVP, decided Monday's winners.

Baltimore Orioles center fielder Adam Jones put up his fifth consecutive season of hitting at least 25 home runs this season and has also been recognized for the exemplary standard he's set away from the field.
