KANSAS CITY — Jacob deGrom's right arm is a weapon, all right.

Take the time a couple of weeks ago in Los Angeles when, sitting down at the head table to meet the press with scorching-hot teammate Daniel Murphy, deGrom did some quick work with the chair that was about to hold his teammate.

Kansas City Royals pitcher Edinson Volquez reportedly took the mound for Game 1 of the World Series shortly after his father died.

MLB fans were left in the dark Tuesday night when Fox's television broadcast of Game 1 of the World Series between the New York Mets and Kansas City Royals was interrupted by technical difficulties.    

According to Eric Fisher of SportsBusiness Journal, this is the image televisions across the country were presented with when Fox's broadcast truck in Kansas City, Missouri, lost power: 

The Kansas City Royals will face the New York Mets in Game 1 of the World Series on Tuesday night, but they could be without one of their key postseason contributors for some of the Fall Classic.

Game 1 of the World Series could be in danger, as rain has been coming down throughout the afternoon in Kansas City, Missouri. The first pitch is scheduled for 8:07 p.m. ET.

Utley's representative, Joel Wolfe, told Joel Sherman of the New York Post on Tuesday that the 36-year-old will be playing baseball next season. 

The anticipation is finally over, and the 2015 World Series will see the first pitch of Game 1 get thrown out Tuesday evening at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.

Fact: If Royals' Raul Mondesi plays in the World Series, he will become the first player to make his MLB debut in the World Series.

Game 1 of the World Series between the Kansas City Royals and New York Mets wound up being an instant classic, as it took five hours and 14 innings to find a winner.

The Royals, with their postseason magic on full display, managed to scrape out a 5-4 victory to keep home-field advantage.

You could look at it as the Mets coughing up a game in which they had several leads or the Royals being a gritty team that never dies, but it's probably a mixture of both.
