The Kansas City Royals have opened a 2-0 series lead in the American League Championship Series over the Toronto Blue Jays. The Royals protected their home field at Kauffman Stadium with a 5-0 win in Game 1 and a 6-3 victory in Game 2.  

When the New York Mets took a 2-0 lead in their National League Championship Series matchup with the Chicago Cubs on Sunday, it wasn't just their fans and players who felt a sense of joy. It was also their state representatives.

As the Chicago Cubs and New York Mets take this National League Championship Series back to Wrigley Field with the Mets leading 2-0 following Sunday night's 4-1 win, this is what the rest of the league must be feeling like. The Cubs? The Mets? So young. So talented. So looking like they could dominate these big October stages for years to come.

There is enough of a sample size to pass judgment.

The American League and National League Championship Series are both two games old, and both are somewhat surprisingly 2-0 in favor of the teams with home-field advantage. The Kansas City Royals and New York Mets are two wins away from heading to the 2015 World Series, but as the division series reminded us, you cannot count out the trailing teams.

While working as a MLB analyst on Fox, Alex Rodriguez warned it's much too soon to count out the Jays.

On Sunday at Citi Field, it was all about Thor hammers and billy goat namesakes. That is to say it was all about Noah Syndergaard, Daniel Murphy and the New York Mets.

Thanks in large part to Syndergaard's god-like arm and Murphy's infallible bat, the Mets cruised to a 4-1 victory over the Chicago Cubs and grabbed a commanding 2-0 edge in the National League Championship Series.
